I was asked about my avatar pic change, and said it was because I reorganized my home office and got all my mini Marshalls together. This was all a result of making a new 9'-6" computer desk. So here's some pick of my new desk I sit at while spewing out my forum blatherings.

I found some more free rough cut walnut boards in my shop at work and milled them into a desk top frame with some birch ply panels. Planed everything to 1" thick on the planer at the shop, and did the rest in my garage.
Saw jigs to mill the 1/2" rabbits and lap butt joints.

    milled before cut to length

    test fit
    desk3.jpg
glue up - never enough clamps
    desk4.jpg
a little water to raise the grain before sanding
    desk5.jpg
stained & 4 coats of hardwood floor poly.
just sitting on the wire shelves.

    Hung the axes back up

    Looks great Fitz nice work.
I work with wood but not on that level.
I am a rough carpenter mostly, but we do occasionally get to some nice clean kind of work.[IMG]

Totally cool. I would think that desktop would be heavy though.

I wish I had better woodworking skills. If anyone could make a wooden box for me ex, that would be great. You can use pine and make it 6' x 3' x 3' with a hinged cover. Should be able to withstand up to 6' of topsoil. Well, maybe that doesn't matter. Just make it forensic science proof. :agreed:

No Rick that is a premium grade smooth red wood, and I dosed it with stain , top and bottom.
The install was a bitch, we had to fit it, then use a 1/8” drill bit to mark the installation of a plastic anchor.
Remove the piece and use a Roto hammer to place them. The most time consuming process ever, but you can still see our holes.
    Thanks for the compliment brother..
    Mitch

Hafta say also, that rag really adds a nice touch! :dude:

    Lol.

Love the couch. I believe I had the same one from Art Van around 2008. Does that have the studs around the front of the armrest?

If you sit in it you just slide out ....but damn it looks good! :)
