I thought I had better specify my location since this forum appears to be very international.

I just bought a used Marshall VS265-212. Serial number claims it is a mid year 2000 amp.

I have been playing guitar for 9 months, having started at age 62. My daughter, the music major, got me started when I retired. My drinking buddy/instructor has a Marshall 8200 stack and I figured I needed something like his at my house for practice. I like folk and country music and I find the Marshall's give a nice rich tone over the solid state Fender I initially bought. I use the amp for both acoustic and electric guitars.

Glad to find this forum for help maintaining and enjoying the Marshall.

    Welcome to the forum
Nothing like a good drinking buddy to help out with the guitar playing, and a Marshall is the ticket to great tone.
    Cheers
    Mitch

Welcome fellow MF'r and beer drinker. Your English is pretty good. JK...
Glad you picked up the guitar at 62. You'll love what the future will bring in learning.

I thought folk and country music required a tube Fender amp???

That is what I thought too, but the Fenders I had were solid state and too high pitched for me. My buddies Fender Deville is awesome, if you are playing a large hall. We were playing it last night and volume was set at 1 1/2 on the dial.
