What think ye?

On version I saw in the store quickly was $50.

Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute, you just got 2 new guitars, isnt there a cooling off period before you buy anything else??? The amp sounds like a Fender but if you can get one for $50 then get it. But wont you be cheating on your Monoprice??

Honestly, if any friend of mine (Vin!) was looking at this kind of amps I would steer them straight towards Supro. They're amazing and in the same price realm....

:headbanger:

Edit: ....and made in the USA

Not a bad sounding amp. But I'm honestly sick of how the hipster douche players made Harmony and Sears stuff popular again and drove up the used prices. I'm talking that Jack White type crowd. Not the cool guys like David Lindley. Used to be able to get that stuff dirt cheap. Not anymore. And now they're back into new production again.

I hear ya. I had a few of those Sears Silvertone amps about 10 years ago: the 1481 and 1482 models. They were bone stock original, al original "Silvertone" tubes, and really, really really, they sound like total crap. Dark, dull and like a speaker in a shoebox. Sold 'em for a little more than I paid and never looked back.

These new ones on the other hand, are something quite different. Even the 5 watter for $550 ($460 would be a better price) is loaded with features like 3-band EQ plus Presence, spring reverb, footswitchable gain boost, power scaling (5w / 1w / .10w and silent for recording out), line out, etc. That doesn't mean it's a great amp - you have to try one to hear it - but small amps with good features appeal to me because I like variety of sounds and don't like modelling.

These days practically every name has a small combo or lunchbox amp.

Wait - which Supros? I'm seeing the striped ones in the store, not the blue one.
