Last night i was snooping around Ebay , and found a matched quad of 6L6GC Mullards for a great price so i snapped them up !!

I read a lot about them being great in Marshall amps etc etc , does anyone have any experience with these 6L6 tubes ? Am'i gonna like these tubes , or ... did i waste my money ? These are one brand i have not heard , played , tested in any Marshall i've owned .

I didn't really need new tubes as i have a few sets of low hour various brand 6L6GC 's on hand etc . but the price was hard to say No too ... I'm hoping they sound great !!!

They are reissues. Not the same tube as the original...just another New Sensor variation. I hate to sound so down, but I bought a matched pair of EL-34s a couple years ago, they're reissues. The blandest, most boring tube ever! lol I still have them...low hours, and couldn't give them away. Maybe the 6L6s are better...hope so!

@HOT TUBES 70 did you get a delay pedal too?

I have to agree with @Adrian R that the reissues aren't remarkable. I don't think they're terrible either.

My experience is with the 6V6 reissues, so who knows? Maybe the 6L6's are great!

    Looking forwars to a review.

This is pretty good video clip from Pete Thorn and Dave Friedman testing a shit load of EL34 output tubes .
The discussion they have after ( @24:00 mins ) is very interesting etc .

I know this is not on 6L6 tubes , but cool none the less .

All of my Marshall amps have original Svetlana EL-34s, 2 of which are Winged Cs. They all sound far better then any other newer production tube I've ever had...and I tried so many. The only thing that sounded as good was the new Genelex KT-77 GL..a quad that cost me plenty...but they didn't last but several hours...maybe 10 before acting odd in my amp...making my standby switch pop and arc badly enough that I saw a spark emanating from the switch! They also got weird sounding. Biggest waste of $150 ever!

The only current production tubes I would now are out of the Shuguang factory...as they sound decent and seem to last. New Sensor stuff? Nope...no way in Hell...especially after pissing away $150 on them Gold Lions. I've been tempted to try the NS, Svetlana reissues...but after the RI Mullard experience..nope.

They say of course ignorance is bliss...It's true. These original Svetlanas are FAR better then anything out there today..I couldn't believe the difference. I have NO idea what a real Mullard would sound like...as I never had them, but I'd bet they're better then the Svetlana.

Incidently, one amp I bought, a 2000 DSL 100 came to me with it's original Svetlana EL-34s . They look old and burnt, but they sound great! I have been tempted to replace them, but there is nothing out there better... Even original Winged Cs from the Tube Store are like $150 ea.!

Oh , and just a fallow up on these tubes ...

    They sound very good !
Less boomy low end , tighter than a lot of other 6L6's I've tried , but i don't mind that at all .
