Need some info on this Marshall cabinet i bought yesterday

Just bought this Marshall cabinet from someone who had it since the mid 80" . He bought it second hand as a bass cabinet.

Could someone help me out to find year and specifics on this on?

Afraid the only way to tell more is by removing the back panel and taking pics of the speakers and their numbers.
The serial is there but no model code
Clearly a 2 x12, never seen logo like that before.
They made full size vertical 2 x12s at one time
In the UK it would be at least post '77 due to black cloth, elephant vinyl (post 75) no gold (75) or white (76) stringing around the top and bottom of the cab). It does not look full size (is it 760mm across the top?).
Most likely a 1961B with a pair of 75s from late 80s?
Anyone elss?

Looks like a 2x15 to me. The white piping would put it around 76 or 77. Can't say I've seen one like that before, must be a fairly rare model, or maybe has a replacement baffle (converted 4x12 or 2x12 maybe), with the logo moved to the corner.

I opened the cabinet (75 x 75 x 35 cm) and I found two Realistic speakers.

those speakers aren't going to be much, as far as guitar quality. Not sure if the baffle was replaced, but, kind of a cool cab. I'd find some good Celestion speakers for it, or other guitar speakers, suited for your usage.

I take it, they are 15" speakers?

What will you be using the cab for?

To be honest ... I dont have a clue yet. I just wanna know some more before I make my plans.

I think I will have them connected to my stereo and check the sound, listening to Rory Gallagher all night

I should look more carefully - I didn't see the white string (= 76)

If you're going to use it for bass, you could probably just replace the 2-15s with decent speakers.

If you're going to use it for guitar, I'd say replace the baffle board for 4-12s.

I'm pretty sure the cab is Marshall (I have had x2 mid 70s Ron cabs and that looks correct).

It is the baffle that does not look quite original

The box seems ok . But those speakers are total trash . I remember those RS crappers . Really inefficient and real crappy sound . Def not for guitar duty . Hope you didnt pay much .

Marshall cabs usually have a 2x2 post / brace going from back panel center to front baffle center. Held by a screw at the back panel exterior . But , with the speaker config in that cab does not seem likely . Unless that speaker baffle is a mod .

supports why to have a look at the back panel confirming, or not, a screw hole location for the soundpost.

How can you tell what wattage the speakers are? Ohms? I'd be afraid to plug it into any decent amp without knowing.

Those are 8ohm and nominally rated 100W but for RadioShack that would be a program power rating, not RMS power, which is maybe half that if you’re lucky. You might be ok with a 50w amp into the pair?
