I would just look on ebay (look at "sold" listings) to determine what they're bringing. If you're selling it locally, you can ask a bit less, as you're not having to deal with ebay or Reverb fees and shipping.

You'll have no problem selling that amp if it's in good shape for a decent amount (roughly $2,000+ here in Canada). :D

I sold an early '83 JCM800 2203 about 18 months ago. It took a while for it to sell and I didn't get anywhere near that amount for it. There isn't that much demand for the big monsters any more.

Maybe that's why you can't get a studio model from L&M right now?

Partly, and the rest is due to production slowdowns due to Covid and shipping/export issues due to Brexit (I didn't think that would impact stuff being shipped here, but my brother has been waiting a while for some running gear and the company told him the delay was due to Brexit...don't know whether true or not).

Send smaller pocs via like Imgur, it is free. Take pics of serial number for age plus gut shots.

I Despise Big Brother and the Little Brothers too,

For privacy, I would cover the last 2 digits of the serial number. JCM800's are easily dated by the Letter that precedes the Numbers.

Proper planning the shipping task and a plan to double box (one box, inside another floating on peanuts) can help get the WMD to it's new home safely. It's expensive but well worth the quality an original stock 2203 brings.

Good Luck with Your Sale. : )

How would your PRIVACY be affected by someone knowing the full serial number of an amp you don't even intend to keep owning???

Or do you mean the vague concern that one of the maybe-dozens of past owners nicked the dang thing somewhere and the legal owner before that actually filed a proper police report, including serials and proof of ownership??

If I have to explain PRIVACY, you wouldn't understand.
You are at Liberty to give up yours, I will choose to retain mine, if able.

    In Liberty.

I wouldn't cover serial numbers, it contains no personal information, and proves the amp is what it is.

If it is covered I would suspect foul play.

No, it seems that you are the one who doesn't understand privacy.

But that pic doesn't show the serial number so they protected their privacy. Or something like that...................

Not sure about Canada, but in the U.S., if the amp was in "nice" shape, $2000 is not uncommon right now. Prices have been on the up swing on the larger amps. I was interested in a nice 2204 (80's model), which sold for $1900. Really didn't need it, but it was in very nice condition. Sold within 5 days of being listed.

So, Tim Hoffman’s email address is Brandon Reed 313? Seems odd. If you email the pics to yourself, they usually get smaller. Than it’s simply a matter of copying those pics from the email and pasting them here.

    Looks like a phishing post.
I doubt there's pics, let alone an amp for sale.
    OP just wants your email.

    Could be.

Maybe, like, Chuck Berry, (twice convicted and imprisoned for Transporting a 14 year old Prostitute from Mexico to "work" for him in his "club" in Missouri) is a Pimp that merely appears to be honorable.
: ) You just never can tell, can you?

But, that's another matter. It's is common for scammers to fish/phish these types of forums look for a collector who'll take unnecessary risk to buy that "special" item for his collection. Due Diligence can protect.

    Great point fitz! : )
