Marshall 2536A 212.jpg

I was thinking about an EVH 2x12 https://www.marshallforum.com/threads/evh-2x12-and-marshall-studios.128966/

However, I have decided to put that on a bucket list for my EVH 5150III 50 6L6 head. While people are getting good results with that combination, I decided to rethink V30s.

I have Celestion V30 in an Orange PPC112. I thought the V30s in the 2536A are the same as Celestion V30s. Now regardless of if there are the same or not, the cab design impacts the speaker sound.

So I decided to go with the 2x12 Marshall V30s.

Here is my Celestionn G12 V30.

Yeah, it sounds a lot different to that cab.

However, that is not all. It seems the V30 for the Marshall Cab is different.

I didn't know that. So it made sense to try a Marshall branded V30 series for a Marshall head.

So this doesn't sound like my Orange PPC112 like I thought it might. Notice I said different and not 'better' as that is subjective.

Anyway I am enjoying the cab a lot.

Here is a YT comparison.

Dude your comparing a straight cab to a slant cab. A straight cab will always sound better, thicker more low end than a slant. So you really can't compare. Should return the 2536A for a regular 2536. Big difference.

Can you please show me the comparison I made you are talking about? I am not sure what you mean.

I ended up going with Marshall-branded V30s because they are voiced for Marshall and not the same as Celestion G12 Vintage 30s. I wanted the slant because it fits where I will keep this setup. The 2x12 regular was recommended to me but was too big. I can't play these beyond 90 to 95 dB where I am. If I leave the house, I will be using a 4x12 elsewhere.
