I found a squeaky clean early JCM2000 and decided to grab it. I did the simple C12 mod and love what it did for the lead channel..but honestly, with a boost, the green channel will be where I'll hang out when using this amp. The clip below is the green crunch channel boosted with a Timmy.

Thanks. Pretty close but I'd have to double check when I get home. I remember starting with the Paul Gilbert settings from one of his tour/gear interviews (they zoomed in) because I liked them, I tweaked from there for my speakers/guitrars, etc, but it wasn't that much different, bass past 1:00, treb and prez low, mid noon, gain 2:00.

Killer sound! The JCM 2000 is probably my favorite Marshall, and your clip just reaffirms that.

Great find Derek! I had one 10 years ago but sold it (money issues). That's the exact sound that defines rock and roll! Rock on...

That's a nice sounding DSL right there. Meat in the mids.

Sounds great man. Almost my exact settings, except I keep the treble and presence both on 3. What speakers are you running through?

Thanks gents! These things are really sleepers, I mean I don't know why they're not more sought after. Don't get me wrong, when they are mentioned, I see nothing but praise, but yeah, they are underrated in the marshall family of amps it seems, weird. I have no problems running this right beside my Soldano and Friedman. Last night I was fooling around again on that green crunch channel, and with the bass and gain a little lower and the prez up a tick, I had a very cool brown sound working.

Bloodrock - that clip is through G12H30 Blackbacks, my absolute fav for all things high gain rhythm - and they work great with the JCM2000 because they have a tighter low end then greenbacks, more teeth too. They're the 55hz model and though the low end is very tight, it's massive, so no matter the amp, I always have to run the bass lower than normal with that cab (I like mentioning this when asked about amp settings - speakers always factor in big time) so what works with my setup might sound like shit elsewhere lol!

Hey Derek...WOW!! That is some really fine guitar playing! I'm jealous! LOL... Seriously...great tone man...like Vai, or Hoey but FOR ONCE with a *real* guitar sound....not some overly processed computer voice...nice and organic... very, very good. You are right about DSLs...man once you learn how to use them and set them up.. one of Marshall's all time greatest amps...tone wise man... Don't give up yet on the red channel... The trick with that channel is simply volume...and with the C12 clip the brightness should be tamed. I am in the green channel boosted most of the time...but use the red channel turned up just for solos. It gets REALLY fat man...and the clean gain is insane... I will say though that is nicer with humbuckers...adjusted accordingly.. (not to hot or close to the strings)... I am totally in love with my DSLs...

They're a nice amp! It's hard to beat four 12AX7s and two EL34s. [IMG]

Thanks Adrian, EADGBE, dreyn! I agree Adrian - I have fooled around now some with the lead 1 channel and it does have it's own nice thing happening, I may toss a clip of that up as well.

Your cab is the elusive unicorn to me!

I have the A cab, and am searching high and low for the B cab! (except mine needs the small check..even harder to find!)
    Gotta love the 55hz G12H30s!!

Only thing that spooked me is all the talk of bias drift. It didnt have a sound i liked enough to worry about the bias issue to keep it.

I like the idea of 4 channels and that there was 50 watt versions the one i had was 50 watts and it was in near perfect condition unmodified.

I returned it for a 900 DR im much more happy with it. The A channel on that amp is great then after a few mods the B channel came around.

I will eventually be getting a DSL100H, after getting a DSL15H and the eggz mod that sucker sounds great but i want a bigger one

    Congrats on the NAD!!!

Sounds amazing Derek. To be honest, I actually like the tone of that clip over some of your others. A little beefier in the low mids and lows. That was awesome!!

But you make everything sound great my friend!!
