    Hey folks...new here.

So, a few years back, I had a DSL401 that I just loved in the office/bedroom. I let it go and gave up playing in my old age. I'm 65 now and back at it.

Anyway, I started looking for another a couple of weeks ago to find out they aren't so plentiful anymore and had been upgraded twice already! So I started looking for a cheap 40C. Found one at a big box online store in the used inventory in "good" shape for $459. I said what the hell and ordered it.

Just yesterday, I found a 40C locally for asking price of $400! After handing over $380, I had a bone stock, like new DSL40C. Fizz city to me, of course. A G12T100 and 2 GE UOS tubes solved that problem, as well I clipped C19...awesome! Could send the other 40C arriving today, back to the local store and get my $500+ bucks back. Whoo-hoo!

Was working on a guitar when it arrived. Decided to unbox for a trial later...figured I'd return the one I liked least, haha.

Cut the tape on the box, opened it and pulled out a like new DSL40CR!! They thought they had sold a 40C for $449 plus tax and shipping.

I guess you can figure out what I'll end up doing in a few days...

Keep them both and run them in stereo.

    I got a C and a CR that I run in stereo...

You’ll find that the amps differ a bit in voicing but I like the way they sound together.

    So I agree

    What a bargain!
Stereo is the way to go now you've got two amps.
    I run my 40CR in 4CM to a Boss GT-100.
I often plug the stereo (R) out from the GT-100 into the FX return of a VS65R, and it is sweet.

I once bought a new Squier Strat in the late 80's that developed a fault.
So I took it back to the shop and they ordered a replacement.
After 2 weeks my replacement arrived, I went in and opened the box.
Inside was one of the new Korean Fender Strats!
I quickly closed the box, thanked the guy behind the counter, and scurried off home with my new Fender. :fever:

Unfortunately I never really bonded with it (singles), so I sold it to a mates brother for more than I paid for the Squier.
That went on a down payment for a Charvel Model 4.
The guy moved to New Zealand and I have been to visit. He still has the guitar to this day.

As said above keep them both and run in stereo, or dual mono!
    That’s what I do with my Dsl40c’s
    Cheers

Whatever you do.....do not send back any other amp than the one you received. It is not worth the bad karma. It sounds like you were contemplating sending back the cheaper unit you bought locally in place of the more expensive unit GC sent you. Hey....I think GC sucks, too....but......

On top of it being the right thing to do....you have also modified the other amp by removing the cap. I know it probably sounds better but if somebody is looking for a stock unit and purchases the one you send back (one you purchased locally).....you have helped to deceive a fellow musician AND the place you ordered it from. Not cool in my book.....but hey.....people have different sets of moral codes. My moral code says....KEEP BOTH!

If I misunderstood anything....my bad. Hahahahah

CROWEMAG, I've already come to the same coclusion re: bad karma. I couldn't return an amp I didn't actually buy from them. Too old and wise (?) for that.

However, i will sell it off and never look back. Lol.
