The new DSL100HR arrived just a while ago. I was sitting here in the living room when I noticed the FedEx truck at the end of my driveway, but I "patiently" waited for him to come to the door. Sucker starts to drive off so I go open the door and find my HUGE box wrapped in Sweetwater tape sitting in the direct sunlight at my front door. Okaaaay....I may drop a note to FedEx and give them my opinion of this.

Anyway, drag the box inside, open it up and finally get the amp out. Sweetwater packed it up very, very well. I then let it cool off a bit so I could handle it while setting it up!! After about 30 minutes, I gave it a good once over for any flaws or damage that may have occurred during shipping. Nada. Life is good now. Hooked up the amp and put it on standby for about 20 minutes and looked, listened and smelled for any catastrophic events......Again, nada. Oh yeah. Flipped the standby to high power setting and let it sit again for another 20 minutes while doing the look, listen and smell thing. Plugged in my guitar and strummed a few chords, turned a few knobs. Man she sounded mean, pissed off and just lovely! Turned all the gain and volume back to zero and cased the guitar, all the while grinning like a kid at Christmas.

Next, I removed the back cover and checked the initial bias. Both sides were rock solid and sitting at ~79-80. I let the amp sit for another 15 minutes and rechecked it, bias never moved. Finally, I turned down the bias to ~78-78.1 on both sides and called it a wrap. My next project is to rearrange the furniture to make a little more space for "living." Three amps, cabs, a pedalboard, cables, guitars and cases take up quite a bit of real estate!

On a side note: I did not realize how big that head is, or, how small the Mesa Recto cab is. That head fully takes up the entire width of the cab and around 80% of the depth! Once I get some courage, refine some skills and figure out how, I may post up some clips (since I always post to others "post some clips or send it back" LOL). I am glad I went with this amp. I was previously looking at a Mesa TC100, V90 or V35 but they were out of stock at Sweetwater for a couple of months now. This way, I bought a new head, still have enough money for the Origin 50H, AND enough money left over for groceries for an entire month!!

Thanks for reading my short book :blah::blah::blah: :eddie:

Ugh I’ve been gassing for the HR the past few weeks. Almost pulled the trigger this weekend but pussed out cuz it didn’t come with a power cord! Haha. Soon, I will have one.

    Congrats!

3 to 5 minute warm up is plenty unless its frozen.

No need to sit 20 minutes x 3 specially with a brand new amp.

So you are going to complain to Fedex about a box with no instructions on where it should be placed, and was left very nicely packed in the sunlight for 30 minutes?

Maybe I am missing something or maybe I am missing your humor.

Either way, congrats on your new amp!

I tend to be a little cautious because I have had unpleasant surprises before when I've turned my back, even with new equipment. Lord knows what that box went through to get here and then be left in the sun by my door!

Yea I saw that...$19 a month for 48 months. Nice way to ease the pain instead of forking over a grand all at once. They do that pretty often I think, so no rush for me yet.

Sorry. Maybe to some like yourself, voicing an opinion on something is a complaint. I didn't see anything stating I should contact them to "complain." But hey, everyone has their own "complaint" about things.
