I've been tone hunting for some time now as far as it comes to amps. It's been a struggle honestly. I only play out about once a month now, so my goal was something portable. I play rock, and only need high gain a couple times in a set for covers.

I tried the DSL40c and I still have the DSL401. I've tried other amps as well. The only amp I played that I really liked was the BluesBreaker and the 1974X. I found them to be similar. These are my dream amps, and I've never really was impressed with anything else. Yes, I had the JVM, but it's honestly too much amp for me today (right tools for the job, and all that).

So anyway, I decided to sell one of my LP's to fund an amp.sure enough the same day someone replied and I got this...

The Class 5 was an appetizer, but now I'm really happy. I finally got the gigging amp I want and not just one I could only afford. I should have spent less time buying guitars and more time saving so I could have got this amp earlier. Anyway I'm going to go play and try to make some clips.

i played one of those at my Sam Ash and was really impressed with how it sounds. I would love to have one, but I spent all my money on Avatar cabs :)

Avatar is great! I wanted to get their JTM Clone amp. Great company.

This amp is pure tone though, man. It's crazy. There's no fight at all, I just play..

Looking for something I don't remember what.
Get some nice vintage tubes for it...you'll be glad you did. I have two Blackburn Mullard ECC83's and two Mazda branded RFT EL84's in my 2061x....sounds fantastic through greenbacks. :yesway:

Congratulations. I'd love to try one. How does it sound at lower volumes? Could it be used effectively in a condo setting?

Well, I guess you can technically play any amp at low volumes. You can even get some gain with a good OD pedal. So, the answer is yes but you won't get the most fun out of it.

Don't get me wrong, this amp sound AWESOME at ANY volume. It's a tone machine, no exaggeration. The fun happens when you get some break up from it. It is intensely articulate, and at full volume it is purely "vintage" Marshall tone. It's what I've always wanted to hear, but until now was never able to achieve. I'm very fortunate.

    Btw, it's loud... Very loud...

    Great amp! ENJOY that!

BUT your view of the amp is very worrying!
Marshall sells amps not tone machines.
Now you can tell the faults of the vintage amp and see why the modern amp was created.

    Super sexy amp! Grats!

One thing I don't really get is the price ($2.5k!). Anyways, enjoy that gem and post some samples!
