Spotted this monstrosity on my local CL and decided to check it out. JCM900 4500 Hi Gain Dual Reverb. 50w head + two Vintage 1960 cabs....

Looks a mess but it sounded great so I decided to bring it home.

I had tried one before. A 4101 100w single 12" combo and I liked it. Never understood the hate.

Cabs are awesome, 4x Marshall branded Celestion V30's. I have a couple G12T-75's I might mix in and see how that sounds. I hear it's a good combo.

Anyway, I love this thing. It's brutal. If I see a good deal on another, I'll buy it.

Very nice and the cabs look well used so the speakers are nice and broken-in they way you want them.

    That's an awesome setup! Congrats!!
It's amazing to me how much trash talk I've read about the 900's. They really seem to be getting a bit of a better reputation all these years later. I have always liked them and I bet 90 percent of the bad rap was from guys never turning the master up. Or turning the master up with the same settings used for bedroom playing with no adjustment to the eq.

I'm glad you like your new toy. A friend has the 50-watt 2x12 version and a 1922, both loaded with G12T-75s - nice speakers. He tries to like his rig, but he really wants a JCM800.

The 41XX and 45XX are fine if your want an amp with solid state (diode and op-amp) gain stages, but they are not an amp for me.

You’ll love that a) channel very jtm/ plexish . Don’t give up on the b channel. A lot of people say it’s fizzy but with the right pedal or eq in the loop it makes it a beast.

Very nice score. May look like hell but the tone is where it's at and that stack looks like it has it!

I've got a beat up looking JCM900 4500 to and love it. I also picked up a JCM800 4210 for $600 Canadian about a year ago that somebody cut down & turned into a head. The split channel reverb is a 1985 model & I honestly prefer the tones I get outta the JCM900.. If I had to choose between the 2 I'd keep the 900. The only reason I kept the 800 is I plan on robbing it's transformers for a 1987 or 2204 build at some point.. Congtrats on the new set up..

True, you guys can "fight" over solid state distortion. I cannot stand it. I'll go for the pure valve gear. If that makes me a cork sniffer then so be it. Are there T-shirts available with dual triodes in place of corks?
