50 year old guitar. Fine sound. Very fine.

Kid plays trumpet and section won awards in HS.

He is 17. He picked up my classical (I've got 7-8 Heads, 4 Cabs. 2 boards). He was showing me shit about chord structure without any lessons on guitar.

What can he learn to start? 2-3 chord basics. Not into Barre chords, yet. Sweet Home Alabama, I think not.

Maybe something from the 90's. Lotta simple strumming then...

Always best to start with music you like, or in this case what HE likes.

I would get him the Aaron Shearer "Classical Guitar Techniques" volumes. It will teach him the proper way to play guitar. Glossing over, or skipping parts he thinks he already knows would not be helpful. Once he masters those lessons, I would allow him to move onto electric. Of course, being 17, he will probably want to do it his way.
