I have a good lead on a minty 78' 1959 SL. Anyone have one here? I want to hear all the pros and no cons. Lol I have a few older Boogies that are not getting used these days. I think this amp may be justifiable giving up one of my Mark IIIs for. Want to hear it from you all first. Thanks fam.

Unless you are getting a real good price (under $1500) I would be sure and look under the hood.

And if you thought your DSL and SLX had a lot of treble...

The EQ on that amp does very little compared to the EQ on those other two amps.

Yes, so called "Minty" needs to be untouched except for the basic needs.
Get good pictures of the board and post them.

As far as the sounds goes, one of my all time favorites! Sold mine and have regrets however it had an extra hole punched for PPIMV which I removed.
Very AC/DC sound, but they need to be cranked up......

I have a 1959hw. Pros only huh? Ok here are the pros,
LOUD like really Really REALLY LOUD! on 2. Not sure what happens beyond 2, earthquakes?
When plugged into my Hotplate the lights glow like aircraft landing lights. Great for finding stuff, or holding my arm against it and seeing how my broken ulna is looking.
No need to waste time on bass treble and mid knobs, they really don't do much
    Nails 70s cranked marshall tones
It is Loud enough, I think one could almost call it a percussion instrument because you will FEEL it as much as you hear it.

My buddy Delfin owned one and it was a loud mother [email protected]&kr, and at the time we used no pedals, just volume and hot pick ups, always loved it, the neighbors not so much...
    Negatives are the decibels..
    Cheers

Last of the good ones, I have a UK Spec [EL34] '78 2203, the chassis and the sticker say its a model 1992 Super Bass, however the circuit is definitely a 2203. It even had the original Mullards in it.
