Both pictures courtesy of NASA........ It is well known that according to "their story their only exist a few "real" photos of earth from space, claiming there is only so many times we've been at the correct altitude with the right gear talking photos. The rest are composites of multiple photos edited in photoshop basically. make sense right. However, it doesnt make sense that continents grow and shrink even in photo composites. Both images can be found on NASA's own website https://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/images/index.html?id=355437 https://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/images/index.html?id=354658
Both are composites, different angles, different lenses. What is your point? Do you actually believe continents grow or shrink that much?
Not at all, I guess they need to hire some more qualified photoshop guys I guess.....haha. I thought they were top notch. Maybe you should ask them instead. I just noticed the difference. I didnt release it for the world to see.
I believe the VIIRS instrument takes images in both visible and infrared light which is processed from a number of swaths, as it says. Looks wonky alright. The first one says "as it would appear" based on satellite data. So there is certainky some data interpolation, but yes, it looks funny. Vin the LEM basically WAS aluminum foil, a thickness equivalent to about 3 layers of extra thick. The gold foil was to reflect solar radiation. And, yes, we went there. It was cool!!
it doesnt matter if its infrared or whatever, It still shouldnt change the size in relation. One of those pictures are whack but since we all have been told what to believe, even when we see it with our own eyes we still dont question anything. There is such a thing as forced perspective, and I use it all the time as a photographer. But im not so sure you can shoot the earth from space and induce any kind of forced perspective....especially on a round ball.
To quote a historical figure. “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.”
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
Swede, you seem to be missing the key point.... The continents are staying the same size... It's the earth that's getting bigger and smaller...! All makes sense now, right? Cheers
I agree, the second image is weird, I'm thinking they mixed up stuff when interpreting the data. That's what im getting at. It is off.
How many instances do you think these images go through, how many people need to say OK you think before it goes to print?
I know what you mean Swede, I recall seeing some stuff about color calibration on images from the Mars Viking lander. You know, making everything look redder so that tax payers felt like they were getting their money's worth. In this case though I'll take a shot, the images are from vastly different orbits. I don't know, but it seems reasonable to expect some perspective distortion from the image taken from 800 km, as opposed to the ones "as it would appear" when taken from 35,000 km. It's hard to tell with all the clouds and ****, but it looks to me like the top half of North America is shrinking as it gets further away, and Florida is extra large and sort of spread out simply because it's closer to the "camera."
isnt it funny though. we can get "photos" of every planet between here and light years away. but we can barely get a decent photo of our own planet. coincidence? calling Fox Muelder....come in Muelder
