Both in at the same time and both modded to the same (nearly!) circuit spec. Honest assessment of component and build quality between these two. One 'made in Vietnam' and the other 'made in England'. Following is a head to head tonal contest, after both amps have been modded to our HF spec.

If you spent some time looking at what knowledge I'm sharing on my channel, you might have different view...but no. Instead you react. Nice one bro.

@fitz288 thanks mate, appreciated. You must have had your coffee, unlike Mr. Grumpy life above.

    4th mug.
I'd bet the comparison of the components is going to pucker a few "Made in England" sphincters.

Thanks for the inside look. I’m surprised at the similarity of chassis build, components, and PCB quality. Honestly, we are fortunate to have options, at various price levels. Both these amps are great! However, the studio classic is my favorite. It’s just so right.

I've owned the Origin, the SV20H and the SC20H. The SC20H is the only one I still have. It's not going anywhere.

    Nice work...
So basically, the difference in cost is labour and cabinet...I guess i sort of already knew.. but to me, my SV20H is worth every bit i payed for it..
... and a little bit of the Rembrants in there?..

As is typical with many companies, it's all about labor costs, not component or materials variation/quality.
Not really, pretty common, cost of labor is the primary factor.

I agree with this 100%. If it was my amp, I'd rather have the SC20H.

Nice job man! Actually, I guess it's not surprising that the transformers, electronic components, metal chassis, etc. are all very similar, since almost everything is made in China these days. I doubt the UK manufactures any electronic components.

Since the SC20H costs $1,084 more than the Origin 20 in Canada, I had hoped that the components used in the Studio would be the best available, but from your video it seems they are the same as the offshore units?

Well one can at least hope that the UK amps were carefully and lovingly assembled by adequately compensated and well-treated, happy, skilled, unionized employees, in an environmentally friendly facility. :D

Yes, I realize the price tag is high, but I am very happy to own such a fine sounding amp. I guess that's just the price of admission. And besides, here in Canada we are used to paying high prices for everything. :applause:

BTW - your mods sound great!

Interesting comparison, but why mod them? Does it have anything to do with them being made in different countries? Just curious. :)

Great playing btw, both amps sound great to me. I must admit I’m a little disappointed that the guts in both amps have the same parts, if that’s the case,... I’m not surprised though.

As @marshallmellowed intimated earlier, labor costs are gonna be drastically different when comparing 1st world countries and 3rd world countries.

And not just labor, there are so many other costs of doing business in modern societies.

Things like taxes, (all kinds of taxes), environmental regulations and compliance costs, payroll taxes, insurances etc. Everything costs more, and there are more things that need to be paid.

All these things are expensive and a big part of the cost of doing business.

They are customer amps, sent to me. Both the guys wanted more hot rodded tones and of course the José mod. In earlier clips I outline how to implement these mods DIY.

    Thanks for your insights.

Appreciate your DIY video on the mods, it's a nice change from "send me your amp...".
