It's anything but a "turd". Geez, it rips even in 5W mode! Way louder than the Mini Jubilee, which I also own.

I own the Mini-Jube as well, and in terms of volume the Studio Classic BLOWS AWAY the Jube. Of course, for me it blows away the Jube tone wise too haha!

No need to get snarky. I Never said I know everything ..sorry I offended you somehow..most of the time that is is the case with 800s.

Not my place to getin the middle of...something? but I took the original comment to mean simply what it said - chances are one is using an OD in front as that's how they are most commonly used. I use mine that way too. That's why I liked the post. Didn't seem like a dig to me. It's hard onlime to determine motive sometimes.
    Carry on.

No, not at all. I was just commenting on the topic. I re read my post and I didn't feel anything even sounded snarky. No snarky intent either way.

I wonder why the Classic is louder than the Jubilee if both are 20 watts, same tubes? Is it simply the raw midrange growl of an 800 that pushes the volume over the top? A little punchier because it's less gainy? Just wondered.

Compared with the same level of gain and same speaker? The Jubilee might be more compressed, resulting in a lower perceived volume.

I used same tubes in both through the same cab, and the mini 800 is DEFINITELY louder than the mini Jubilee. Perhaps it's the upper-mids emphasis that makes it perceived that way? Maybe it's the circuit? No idea but it's REAL haha

Just curious, did you crank both amps? The volume control taper is very different on the 2 designs, the jubilee volume comes on much later on the dial than the 800 (2 or 3 on the 800, 6 or 7 on the jubilee).

Did anyone else notice that Sound City has had a SC20 amp for a year or two. Not that it matters, but interesting that Marshall chose to use the same model nomenclature.

Yes very good point! I was presuming OP meant on full. If it's on like 5, then the Jube will certainly be quieter by a long shot.
