He’s charging you full price without the foot switch. They are hard to find by themselves. Offer him $300 US

    I think I'll pass.

Its missing the logo (easy enough to replace), but I would want to know its actually functioning correctly and would want the foot switch to confirm that.

Hard to tell the condition off the photos, few cobwebs on the back is a bit of an alarm, logo is gone and no footswitch. Based on the price you guys are quoting, I'll pass.

I'd want to know everything is functioning, and need the footswitch to do that. So if its over priced I'll walk.

yeah, I'd say that about $500 is a fair price, if it's in good shape & has the foot controller...

Not the best price, but fair. $600 USD is high.

Towards the end, they were blowing them out, for less than that new, in the UK. I think £229 or something...

Looking for something I don't remember what.
They were £199 for the 50w head and £399 for the head and an MX212 cab. At one point I had 3 50w heads and the MX212, but got persuaded to part with a couple of the heads when I got offered £400 each for them.

I got my JMD-1 50w head, with the footswitch for $400. I would agree that $500 would be the norm. Imo $600 is a bit steep, but prices are rising on them thanks to threads like this.

You can kind of see how popular they are by how few are for sale. People get one and tend to hold on to it.

The only thing that scares me about them is the modeling preamp. If a problem arises with that section I'm sure it would be a bitch to repair, and I have heard certain components are unobtainable. That said I haven't had a bit of trouble with mine in the 2 years I have had it.

yeah, but, if worst comes to worst, you could just turn it into a slave amp...

    speaking of, here's mine:

I bought it for $400 as-is here (shipped). Came w/ a footswitch, everything in very clean condition. Modded w/ swapping the power switch to red light & front panel from grillcloth to tolex & piping swapped to white...

(edit) I forgot, that I swapped the tubes out to RFT EL34 & an Amperex 12AX7 for the PI...

Nice, it Looks almost like mine. I did the rocker and piping thing too, I still have the standard grill cloth though. I have empty JMP and 2kDsl headboxes that my JMD might find a home in, as I'm not a fan of the factory box..can't decide which one. I do love the JMP look though.

That did look sweet. Mine is actually a factory Marshall box, but I would have to make and tolex a front panel to fit the JMD.

I need to photograph mine! Got it a couple months ago. I really like that the preamp has a 12AX7. Like a Valvestate im that regard but with a tube power section.

The best thjng for me, I don't need oodles of different tones, is that I can run it like any other amp with the controls. Change the model type as required. When I need something different such as clean or a solo, I will then use a preset.
Effects are a bonus. I will use a few I am sure but don't care that much that's why it has a loop.

Gotta run it thru ts paces I haven't yet embarassed to say.

Just a blanket statement or have you tried a JMD?

the 12AX7 is the PI (power section splitter)...

Check the bias. I have mine (50 watt) at 38/38, & it sounds great. When I got it, it was 44/44 or so. It sounds less tight/compressed.

The old glass also helped... :)...

Oh the 12AX7 is only a PI? This is from manual

Pre-amp Topology: A high headroom gain booster
followed by a gain control driving a cascaded double
ECC83 gain stage followed by a lowered mid frequency
    Marshall three band EQ.
Sounds like the preamp to me
    Haven't checked bias yet

I didn't know I wanted one until this thread.

I'd honestly never heard of them, now I am searching around. Only one for sale in the country appears to be the one I was talking about earlier.
