This may be a dumb question, but the speaker outlet jacks on the DSL20 head are confusing as to where to plug in your speaker cabinet. The one on the left is labeled 1x16 ohms and is self evident. The 2nd and 3rd jack are confusing. Does the 1x8 ohm speaker cable go in the middle jack and the 2x16 ohm cable into the right jack? There is no designation telling which jack to use. Sorry this is so incoherent, but I can't seem to post a photo of the back of the head.

I have to look every time I plug something in to it, then get my Abacus, take my shoe off, sharpen pencil and I still have trouble. Thankfully they are forgiving.

    I have a question regarding the Speaker jacks. Can I plug 2- 8 ohm cabs into the DSL20H? The jacks are labeled 1 x 8 and 2 x 16, nothing for 2 x 8??

    :welcome: to the forum.
You are correct about the jacks, no direct 2x8ohm way to go.
You would need an adapter to series connect your 2 cabs to the 1 input for 16ohms.

Fitz288, I just checked out the link....It is no longer available....Bummer, that was exactly what I needed. I'm dyeing to hear both cabs at the same time.

Just do a browser search for "Palmer CAB M Merger"
Ebay / Reverb / Thomann, etc.

Also, if you "like", "quote", "reply" or call out someone with @ in front of their user, like @Ed Hampton , they will get an alert.
I just happened to see this thread pop up and decided to see what was new.

    I'm confused also. With my DSL20HR head and MX212A on the way, and reading this thread, I downloaded the manual off of the Marshall site. And no, it does not clearly show where I would plug my amp into the MX212A. The cab is listed as follows: "unit impedance - 8 ohm" {2 X 80 watts 16 ohms}
Now, does that go into the center jack, the right jack, or does it matter??

Either of the center or right jacks labeled 1x8 / 2x16.
Marshall manuals are notoriously vague, and sometimes wrong.
But on this amp, either of those jacks is ok to use for the 8 ohm 2x12.

Looking for something I don't remember what.
If it's the same as the Origin 20h....and it looks exactly the same set-up, then you MUST use the middle socket for an 8 ohm cab. Using the other socket will quickly produce a smell of overheating O/T windings (like cooking kippers).
Disappointing for Marshall to have such a crap design. Always used to be either or with these outputs.

The DSL20H does not have the screwed up speaker jacks like the Origin20.
It looks the same, but it works correctly.

I thought I read here just today that the DSL20 had the same messed up jacks.
I’ll need to search it. That’s what prompted me to download the manual from Marshall

I don't think the DSL20 had this issue.
I could be wrong - it happens all the time.
My Origin had the factory / service tech repair & the corrected jack label when I got it used.
I do use the center jack with my 212 - 8ohm cab.

The "fix" made ONLY the center jack for 8ohm and center/right for 2x16ohm.

The Marshall website still shows the old wrong jack labels, but they fixed the manual download.

The jacks on my DSL look like this and work fine.

I also plug an 8 ohm cabinet into either 8 ohm jack on my DSL20HR with no problems at all.
