So I got this Marshall 30 watt solid state combo for REALLY cheap recently. It's the 30 watt offering in the mid 80s solid state lineup. Lead 12, Lead 15, Lead 20, 30 watt combo, Lead 100 Mosfet.

What speaker is supposed to be in it? This one came with a black painted, no label 12" speaker with a thin ceramic magnet. Not a good sounding speaker at all. The amp doesn't sound very good through it.

It has been modded to put two Cliff speaker jacks on the back panel. The job is clean, neat, and looks like it might have been done in the Marshall factory. So I plugged into my Greenback 4x12 and now it sounds pretty darned good.

Whatever that speaker is, I'm replacing it with an 8 ohm Creamback.

The grille was sun faded but this evening I redyed it. Now it looks almost like a new amp. Overall it's in great shape for a 35 year old.

If it’s like mine, then it came with a Celestion G12S-50.

    If it's a 5010, mine have come with a G 12 M 70 @ 4ohms

Yeah, it's a 5010. And it has a well made but clearly non original back board on it. It's a one piece back that's almost full height, making it nearly a closed back cabinet.

Pic (my amp is a 5010 from ‘89) and it’s the original speaker.

I'm going to put a Creamback into it. And replicate the original back panel boards. Sucker'll ROCK.

    150. I thought that was cheap enough given its overall condition.

150 is good nowdays....that the cat is outa the bag.
I got one for 99 12 yrs ago and one for 150 last year ...it had been listed 4 or 5 times in a year, nobody bit , and I tried to steer a bunch of people to it

They were all like chickens, "Oh .nah man ,its solid state ...blah blah "

    Their loss...

I like use it these days together with a Peavey Classic 20 .....big fat tone in small packages

I've been playing it into my Greenback 1960A cabinet, and my G12T75 1960A cabinet, and both cabinets. And any way you try it, it's just a barrel of fun!
I'd definitely say that adding two speaker jacks to one so you can play with external cabinets is a mod that you should do.
