Hey folks, there's a beater 8 ohm Model 1510 bass cab available locally, reportedly it has Eminence speakers of some sort. For a very affordable price.

Has anyone ever used a Marshall 4x10 bass cab with a guitar head? Usable, or no? Too boomy, no highs? I do have bass heads I could run it with as well.

    Thanks in advance!

That's a great cab for guitar
Probably better for guitar than bass , as with most Marshall bass gear of that era
    Too bad , it shoulda had 4 x Celestion G 10s 50's in there

Ta Alvis, yeah, that's along the lines of what I was thinking as well, on all points. My guess is that the Eminence were put in specifically because the stock speakers weren't that hot for bass. I will probably just have to break down and try it out, with various heads, and see.

The price is crazy cheap, since it's sorta a weird piece, and Marshall isn't known for bass gear. But I kinda like "thinking outside the box," and, owning a '66 Super, I know what a smashing job that four tens can do for guitar.

My main issue at this point very well may devolve to: where can I PUT the damn thing if I do buy it, haha!

In a perfect world, mebbe. Highly doubtful that the seller would agree to go to that additional amount of work, for the smidgen he's asking. Easier to just bite the bullet and audition the thing.

Sweet cab, grab it! I have a single G10S50 in a combo and I'd love to have a quad!

Actually, I previously owned what is probably very similar to a 2x12 combo version of that head, the Mosfet 100 Reverb Twin (see also, default pic, at bottom).

Honestly, it was more amp than I needed/wanted. So I sold it when I got my DSL 40C. I still have 3 smaller combos from the same '80s 5000-series solid states (see top 3 amps in default pic).

IIRC, it's the size of a 4x12 box
I was about to get one in England ,but a 1965a popped up and I got that

Just from looking at the seller's photo, I was thinking the same thing. The cab looks like a flat-front 4x12 1960B-sized one to me, just with a 4x10 baffle.

    Ta!

    UPDATE/MOJO REQUEST

Set to buy this on Tuesday morning (10/12)! Y'all keep your fingers crossed for me. He's lowered his asking price (which I'll be VERY happy to pay) to $145 USD! And he's even delivering the dang thing to me!

Absolutely insane deal. Damn I loves me some livin' in a college town where the musos-to-normals ratio is off the hook. :wub2:

Well folks, I dunnit! Here it is with my crappy ol' Crate BX200 head.

Sounds great both for bass, and (with my Sovtek Tube Midget) for guitar! Size is same as a standard Marshall 4x12 flat front, but considerably deeper, back to front.

ONE HUNDRED AND FECKING FORTY-FIVE US DOLLARS!!! YAY!

Heavy as an imploding star, but thankfully on casters, haha.

Here's a somewhat better pic, paired with a guitar and guitar head.

Have you tried it as an extension cab for the DSL40?

Not yet. It sounded freaking great with the Sovtek Tube Midget 50W head though!
