So there's this new handwired JVM with Spring Reverb tank, what else does Marshall have up its sleeve? JK
I'm still holding out for the Super 800. I think it would be cool too if they made a production version of the Astoria Dual, maybe even a 100w head.
If they would just reissue the Lead 12 and 20, along with the 1965 cab..........Id be a very happy but broke man.
Honestly at this point their product line is pretty good, has something for most players. 2 lower price point ranges, one vintage style (Origin) and one a redesign of an existing amp which is now very versatile for most players (DSL). Then they have the multi channel flagship (JVM), other older reissues, and mini versions of 3 of the most popular classic heads. What more could they add? Maybe an upgraded JVM or a new range that's made in the Vietnam factory.
Since there is already a 2203x and the Studio Classic, I can't see the market overall being very high for a 2204x? While I get the modded / extra drive part, one can still go old school amd OD the existing models. There was the KK 2203 as well. Marshall probably looks at sales figures of those to do some determinations. Without the extra drive feature, why do a 2204x when there is a 100 watt and 20 watt version now? Very little difference to justify a new model I would say.
The only viable way forward with 50 watt reissues of already in production 100 waters like 2204 when there is a 2203 would be 100 watt heads/50watt combos... personally i'd like a 4010, but then there is the studio classic combo filling that slot quite well...
Its too late anyway, I’ve got the runt 50 now it’s perfect . The only thing that would tempt me away from it now would be a metroplex .
The one thing I would like to see from them is 2 hand wired 100w heads, a Plexi and an 800. Both with a rear slot for a small (hand wired) board that you could buy to change the amp to the year or version of that amp you like best, or to ad the mod you like best. (Like Jose Arredondo) A simple plug and play that could be easily modded, thus creating aftermarket mods as well, to your favorite amp. The problem is it would cost $3500 - $4000, but if it COULD be done reasonable it would be a great seller for the old school folks like me.
