    :D
I just put it up as a PSA ....
I got a dozen or so Les Pauls , but no tellin when I'll get to work again ...so my motivation / inspiration/ inclination to buy guitars is way LOW

But I recall Gib USA quality was still UP at that time and that looks to me like the "50s" neck version, which Id prefer . Might be a good road/stash guitar but.......so's a Hondo

May be tempting, but I'm the opposite and like the 60's neck. My Les Paul, sorry I only have one, is a 60's.

The "G" in the Gibson logo should extend down slightly below the top of the D tuning peg. This isn't the only method I would use to verify the authenticity of a guitar but you would also need to see the serial number and the internal cavities. A dead giveaway is always how they glue the bookends on the back of the headstock. The fakes never do it right. As far as tops go, fake or not, that one doesn't look good.
Don't listen to me though, I sold off my all my Gibson's but my first years ago and went Japanese. Never looked back. The corporate sell outs and the rising cost and plummeting quality is what did it for me.
