Ever tried butter? Some say margarines are modelled after it....but having tasted a few I don't give that theory much cred.

Yeah, not really a fan of hydrogenated vegetable oil myself. Prefer good old fashioned real butter. I like avocados though.

I read an interesting article some years ago about Margarine, it was originally a failed military lubricant experiment. And then some brainiac figured out it could be marketed as a great alternative to butter.

I had given up the margarine trip some time before I read that, due to the hydrogenated oils in them. We grew up on the stuff, since my thrifty Mom (bless her soul), always tried to feed us kids well on a limited income.

Now it kind of gives me the willies to think about what we used to ingest back in the day that was not only supposed to be totally safe for us to eat and drink, but was also supposed to be a "healthy alterative".

Ah well, as hard as they tried to do me in, I'm still kickin'..BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :naughty:

Margarine is about 2 molecules away from plastic. When it was first introduced. It came with a color packet to make it yellow. Without the coloring it looks like sheet rock compound.

I'm thinking of trying a new butter for the first time. I've always bought Land-o-Lakes, but I think it's time to try something new.

You like the new Land O lake package? Just like in the past they got rid of the Indian and kept the land.

My main go-to is Blue Bonnet margarine, but I switch up with others now & then, including real butter.

    What happened to Promise margarine?

Try Challenge butter. I like it better than L..O.L . You might also like a butter/olive oil blend. I like the blends for cooking!

Yeah that was a silly gesture 4 sho. At the rate I add to my boycott list I'm gonna starve in about eight months.

Try Brummel and Brown, its a yogurt based butter thats been a staple in my house forever. 1/2 the fat and calories of butter, no cholesterol per serving and 0g trans fat per serving. Healthy butter that tastes good with no chemical warnings on the package. :yesway:

Just go easy on the application and use light butter, it’s better for you than that man made crap! Get some exercise, cut back on sugars and the amount you eat and all will be well!

Margarine is chemical poison anyway. First invented as cheep food for raising turkeys, the result was that the turkeys died.

Do yourself a favor and never ever use margarine. Butter is better and much safer.

News flash: if it isn't dirt-to-table or tree-to-table, and even sometimes in those cases, it's man-made.

Video games. Video games are just about the only remaining source of pure food anymore.

Plus one on the Brummel and Brown. My Dad turned me on to them. Stuff is incredible. Slap some on some Hawaiian Sweet rolls and its a fast track to Heaven.

What if you are extremely intolerant to lactose, what then everything dry?

They prolly do but in my case if even if the lactose is removed it's still a no go. Tried the lactose free milk and i swelled up so bad i almost ripped out my hernia mesh. Avoiding it is the best solution in my case, so margarine Vs smoking cigarettes for 23 years or other unhealthy things ( i no longer smoke) a pat of margarine can't be that bad i guess.
