Anybody have experience with the Source Audio Soleman MIDI controller for switching channels on the JVM? What’s the best way to implement channel switching? I’m new to the world of MIDI.

I had a Soleman for a while … Great Midi Controller
Panel Mode offers the most flexibility IME .
It should be pretty straightforward to set up a few patches to completely control the JVM …
PCs and CCs will be all you should need

Did you use the Soleman in conjunction with midi effects and channel switching? I will be using the neuro hub for my effects and I’m wondering if I can incorporate channel switching into the scenes that I create.

Yes , All types of Midi Messages ( PCs and CCs to Midi Pedals, Loop Switchers controlling non midi pedals, other midi devices, Marshall 6100 , JMP-1, 40CR )
Scenes stored in the Neuro Hub can easily be recalled while you’re in Panel Mode on the Soleman ……
I think you can point to a Macro while in Scene Mode too..
My preference would be to work in Panel Mode

If you don’t mind, how do I configure the amp so it’s on a different channel? I need a crash course on MIDI, it’s foreign language to me. Any suggestions of where I could look for info on this stuff? I don’t know about macros etc…

Midi Programing a JVM is very strait-forward …
Let me know if you need help with any of these steps ..

I was able to program the Soleman to switch channels using scene mode, that was simple enough. However, in panel mode I wasn’t able to assign the switches and make the channels change. My biggest issue is trying to understand how to put the jvm on a seperate channel. When I followed the instructions on changing the amps midi channel nothing happened. I turned off the amp, held down the midi/footswitch button, turned on the amp, released the button but the light did not start blinking. This is what my editor screen looks like. Any ideas why I can’t assign the footswitches in panel mode? Also, any ideas why changing midi channels on my amp didn’t work?

The key is in making Macros ……
Each one can be written with as many lines of midi commands as you like ……
For the JVM all you need is
Midi Channel and a
Program Change per Macro …
( note that a Macro can send to more than one Midi Channel, and any type of Midi Info to other Midi Pedals too )
Point to the Macros you made in the Panel Programming window to use them…

The JVM should “Listen for the Midi Channel” that you send a PC# on when you Switch OFF power AND Standby, Holding down the FS/Midi button and Turn On ONLY the Power Switch , Release the FS/Midi Button ( you should see the LED flashing now ), Send the Midi ( midi channel you want along with a PC# )……
Also , make sure the Stock Footswitch is Not Connected while doing this

Finally starting to get things figured out. But one question I have: how do I know what the PC numbers for the JVM are?
PC# for clean, Crunch, overdrive, clean+loop, clean+master etc….

Did the steps work to get the Midi Learn going ?
The PC#s are chosen by you ……
You put you amp settings wherever you want them ( Channel Selection, FXLoop State, Reverb Setting, Master Volume Setting ) , Press the FS/Midi button Twice, Send a PC# ( just chose a different one each time ), Press the FS/Midi button Once to exit “Midi Learn” …
When you send that same PC# the Amp should change to your saved settings ……
I suggest saving at least 2 settings with 2 different PC#s so that you can A/B test them back and forth

I got the amp to learn the MIDI channel. With the amp and neuro hub both on MIDI channel #1 I can get the amp to switch channels in conjunction with the neuro hub which was my main goal, and that is great. But when I put the amp on channel #2 and leave the hub on channel #1 how would I write a macro for the amp on channel #2? I would need to know a PC#, right? So where would I find the PC# for the amp? It’s probably unnecessary for me to do this, but I still would like to know how in case I add some other MIDI pedals that aren’t connected to the hub.

Stay on Midi Channel #1 ……No need to change that again

Write a new macro with a different PC# ……Program the amp settings with that PC# …… Point to that macro in Panel mode on the Soleman…

ie: Midi Channel #1 PC#1 Clean
Midi Channel #1 PC#2 Dirty
Midi Channel #1 PC#3 Clean w/EFX Loop On

You choose the PC# in the Macro ……Teach the amp that PC#
