Just got these off CL. Can’t wait to hear them. What do you guys think?
i think they r loud and trebly ,harder to distort ,but they r yngwie's fav speakers? i own 4 from a jcm 900 cab .
speakers like greenbacks and avt speakers and jbl d120f ,sound a bit lower? and distort more. but they r great sounding celestions,so congrats that's a great score!
lets see more photos, the cab? the amp? the guitar?
Think "These, driven by a 2203 or 2204, is the sound of KISS." And you'll know exactly what to expect.
Johan has a vid comparing some from around that period, to the 2000's ones. I liked the older ones, because they seemed to have more mid & were smoother. The newer ones seemed scooped.
The vented G12T-75s are essentially rebadged G12-65s.
Going in either bottom cab. They are both empty. Have V30s in the top cab. Have a 1959 RI from 1988, Valvestorm JTM45 and a Trinity Triwatt (HIWATT clone). Several Gobson Les Pauls and SGS.
I was wondering that. The full stack is a 1981 JCM800 that came with the 65. Sad to see they were gone when we bought the cab. So you have given me good news.
Long story short, G12-65s were replaced in '84 with the G12M-70 which was universally hated. In order for Celestion to save face, they quickly replaced them with the G12T-75 which was nothing more than the G12-65 with a Kapton former instead of the G12-65's original fibreglass former.
They probably called them the G12T-75 because going back to G12-65 would be an acknowledgement that the G12M-70s were a failure.
Sweet, thanks for the history lesson
I had a quad of the vented 75s. They were awesome. I sold them eventually to try other stuff and regret it!
the V30s will eat them for lunch in loudness. You'd be better off w/ the V30s on the bottom & the 75s on top...
So I was wondering why they are stamped 15 ohms. I didn’t check them individually but as a quad they were
I like them, I have a 2x12 with 75's.
I bought a '83 4104 that had G12-70's in it.
CURRENT t75's are totally different from my old pair of 80's rola celestion white label g12-65's...right????
How much did you pay?
Yes the current 75s are very much different, don’t know what is not the same though.
The ones we got are dated 1984 and they are the same as the G12-65 except ours have kapton voice could be fiberglass.
Early 75’s sound great , end of !!!!
I had an old tatty 1960b cab with 75’s , moved it on , don’t know why , it sounded fab with any amp .
My son has V30s in the lower cab and the 75s I. The upper, the 75s sound awesome
