Can anyone tell me if it’s worth putting these in a 2-12 cab? I know Joe Bonamassa uses them with great results.I have greenbacks and V30’s
Currently and it sounds great. Are any of you guys using them with your Jubilee? Are they that much better?

I had 2 in my 6101 combo and extension. Personally I found them very harsh but that amp is very high endy compared to Jubilee. Also exteremely heavy.
I think V30 are as good as anything else for Jubilee.
If you already own them try it.

    Just my opinion....YMMV : )
When I bought my 75 watt combo 1x12 Mesa Mk III new in the store, it came with a 200w EV.
It didn't have the Celestion grind. so, they swapped it out for a Black Shadow C90 Celestion for me on the spot, and discounted the new amp purchase. Cash is King! : )
Boogie also mixed the 200 EV's with other Celestions in the Half Back Series Cabinets. Give 'em a go, Dan!.. expect less grind and more cutting note clarity and loudness..(of course).

This is one reason I don't like Greenbacks as good as the V30 types (and Alnicos) with the Jubilee. Although Greenbacks and Creambacks work okay with the Jubilees, I often find them too "grindy" with the Jubilee.

If the EVs don't have that Greenback grit then they might work out okay. However, one of the reasons I think the V30s types work with the Jubilees is that they have a high treble roll off so you don't need to roll the treble back as far in the tone stack, leaving a bit of that Marshall airiness.

Yeah, the sand paper. They work fine with other amps.

The Marshall version is a bit brighter up top, with a little less mids, and a little more bottom.

    from my understanding...

Marshall had the Marshall Vintage (not V30), which the V30 is modeled after. From another thread on here, someone contacted Dr Decibel:

The idea originally, was to get the sound of an alnico speaker, at a higher watt rating.

Whether they were successful to your ears, or not, is another story, but, the speaker became popular & Celestion decided to make it part of their standard line. They couldn't mfgr it the same as Marshall's proprietary design, but, they made it similar & popular as well...

There are currently a few variations of the Vintage...

Some people call it texture. I call it grit.
