I have both. The AD30HTC and the 2525H

The Jubilee is by far the most flexible tonewise, has fx loop etc etc..

But if i had to only keep one, it would be the AD30. its a true two channel amp.

The sole caveat is that UNLESS it was low volume only.. given power tube distortion is a big part of the AD30 sound so if its bedroom levels, the Jubilee is a better bet.

Thank you. I would be using an attenuator. How do the cleans and drive compare between the two?

I've tried both and I have to say I prefer the Orange. I am Marshall through and through but I didn't like the jube.
Have you considered the other studios?

Yes, I have but I wouldn't like the watered down version. What makes you prefer the AD30?

I just saw a 900 SLx, and a 6100 last weekend, both in very nice condition. They also had an old JMP or something but it was $3500 so I didn’t look, also in great shape though. All 3 at the same place in CT.

We happen to have one of the very best Marshall amp builders right here on this forum. If I were looking for a new Marshall amp this would be the place to go. Contact David at Hopkins amp mods. NewReligion on here, he will build you theee amp.

There are three different versions of the 900s.
    The Dual Reverb
    The MKIII
    The SLX

The MKIII and the SLX are single channel amps. The SLX uses an extra preamp tube where as the MKIII uses diodes for extra gain. These are both well liked.

The Dual Reverb has two channels but it is more a modern -vintage channel switching arraignment than a clean -dirty one. This amp uses a lot of SS circuitry in the preamp-basically built in boosts. This is the 900 which is controversial.

Because...? Attenuating it to low levels not sure the bit of extra Ooomph from the higher wattage would matter? A 20 watt Studio is not much quieter than a 2204 for example. NOt to say that any of the Studios is right for you necessarily.

I found the Joob very boxy sounding but I only tried the combo. Couldn't really fault the Orange but in the end I got the SV. Horses for courses. It had been the Joob v the Orange my amp would be a bright colour....

I have a Jubilee, its a two trick pony that's it, sounds like you want more versatility than that, I DSL or JVM will give you what you want and more, or an EVH 50 el34, killer.

I am looking for classic rock and some 80 and I understand that both the Jubilee and AD30 can do them. I am looking for very nice cleans too and crunch.

Have you considered the Rockerverb, much better than the AD30 if youre considering it. What is your budget by the way?

You should get the Marshall 2555X Silver Jubilee for sure . I have been using mine without any distortion or overdrive pedals at all , and that is one of my most favorite features about this beautiful amplifier . Also worth mentioning is how well this pairs with Vintage 30 speakers .

Thank you, I am leaning towards that. There's something cool about it, it has its own great status and I love its sound. I am running through a Marshall 2x12 V30 cabinet. What other options were you considering at the time before you purchased the Jubilee?

I think you would like the Vintage 30 speakers , and I think that they would work for you even at lower volumes as well.

Honestly I stumbled upon the Marshall 2555X Silver Jubilee in January 2015 on You Tube as there was a new product demo video featuring the amp and I was instantly sold . This coming from a guy who played Fender amps since I was a spud . The thing that sold me was going from clean to mean with a stomp on the footswitch . All tube save for the diodes that some love to hate , but it just to my ears is the perfect tone going from pristine cleans to all out raunch , and it is such a glorious sound like I am in a studio or something . Honestly I have never sounded as well since I started playing Marshall Amps .
