I finally got my mini Jube back this past weekend and got to do some more experimenting with it. I tried it on just the clean CH with some overdrive pedals, something I have never tried before. Sounded really good. It's odd because I usually don't like OD pedals into a clean amp. I was using a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe followed by an EP booster. Any of you Jube guys do that?
Don't know about the mini but one thing I know is my JTM45 set clean will take pedals a lot better than my 2555SL if that can help! As for delays, the Jub's loop is awesome!
Ive had great success with either into my 2525H. I have just the regular Tumnus though. I especially like the EP on either channel.
Pick up a Ceriatone Centura to use with the gain channel of the SJ. Set the preamp at 4-5, then hit it with the Centura.
1N34A. Nik supplies the correct diodes with the kit. I got mine mixed up with his, and thought that he shipped the wrong diodes. My bad... Sorry.
I quite enjoy the Jubilee set clean, a few people I know do the same. John Frusciante played his Jubilees this way during his second tenure with the RHCPs. His clean tone was great!
yea I quite agree , I have the mini combo and the 50/100 head 2555x, and I had the 2555x loud yesterday for a few hours , and I was fiddling the settings, and I found I preferred it on 100 watts , mainly because the sound was much cleaner , I was trying to reproduce what I get with the mini on 5 watts with a strat, which is clean but responsive to the volume on the guitar clean at 7 , but getting edgy as I increase the volume, more of a jeff beck early yardbirds sound , and I have the red channel, more like a 70's jmp rock sound - on 50 watts it was far more gain than I like , better headroom , better note separation , and bright and sparkly like how I like it on 100, the speakers make a lot of difference - I have my mini combo tru a 2x12 greenback H/M mix and the 100 going tru a 2x12 of 1981 g12 80's , these early 1980's g12 80's give the sound huge depth, and mine are broken in really well, iv'e had em from new
I look at an amplifier as a tool. Use it as you will. Clean, Lead or both; the Jubilee platform is a good amplifier.
