Johnny Winter

Born this day 1944

 

Before Whole Lotta Rosie, there was Boney Moroney.

 

Sat about 10' in front of him while he played in a small bar in the late 80s. I'll never forget it.

 

1st time I saw Johnny was 31 Oct 1982 at the Aragon Ballroom (Brawlroom)
He was still in possession of his powers

 

He already looked old on the woodstock video, only 25 lol

 

Saw him perform once at a stadium show (Toronto) way back in the late 70's alongside Ted Nugent and Aerosmith. Those were great years for RnR! Luckily, one of my buddies had a beat up old Impala so we could make it to the big city.

 

Oz was lucky to have any major band tour, let alone underpopulated'n'isolated WestOz. Good pub scene in the '70s and' 80s, some kick arse Oz bands regularly visited.

 

Saw him at My Fathers Place in Roslyn NY when I was 18? Stood in front of him, was super loud, he kept on saying aaaaarrrggghhhh, he looked like the Winter Warlock from the cartoons, he had long fingers that looked like a spiders legs when he played, shit, that was 40 years ago

 

Johnny and live!!!! the guys who brought me to see Johnny all listened to that album, they used to say "Johnny and", then aaaarrggghhhhh.....had no idea what that was. Fun memories from when NY was cool.
