Picked up a 50 watt JCM 2000 and it has cured my search for the tone that resides in my chimp brain.
I sold my JCM 800 in 1990 and other than a JTM 45 and Bluesbreaker I played thru Mesa Boogies, Fenders and a couple dozen Dr Z amps. Far too many amps the past 20 years. There was no reason to stay away from Marshalls, it just happened.
All my favorite guitarist play thru Marshalls. Angus Young, Rick Brewster, Michael Schenker etc.... Billy Duffy's JCM 800 on the Cult - Electric recording is the exact tone that has haunted me for years. All the while still not playing thru Marshall amps.
I was looking at Friedman and Bogner amps recently and saw the JCM 2000 50 locally, bought it and can't believe the tones I get out of this beast. Shout out the Leon Todd on Youtube, his video is how I pulled my head out of my ass and pulled the trigger on this amp. The green crunch channel takes me close to JCM 800 land and the red lead 2 is the most fun I've had playing guitar in years. I no longer need pedals to get my core tone. I've learned if I want Marshall tone, I'm gonna have to play thru a Marshall.
For what I do this amp checks all the boxes does exactly what I need from an amp.
Thank you Marshall Amplification. I wasted a lot of time wondering why I wasn't stoked about my tone.
Plug in, play and be happy..

Congrats OP!
One of my favorite Marshalls that will always stay in my possession as well as it's bigger brother JCM 2000 DSL 100.
I have to admit, I'm on a 50w kick through Boogie land lately. There's just too much to enjoy from both sides of the tracks. A Boss SD-1 just takes all my amps and puts them exactly where I want them. Enjoy your new adventures with one of Marshalls best amps!

btw..I forgot to mention. Try some Gold Lion KT-77s in that amp...bias around 32mV per tube... huge difference... gives the amp more balls and punch...greater headroom too. I have a matched pair too if you are interested. I tried about 5 different power tubes in the DSL 50 I had. The GL KT77s were by far the best.

I don't think the 2000's are great amps. I've had one for a few years. I prefer my SL-X & SC20 over it.
