best guitar player Ozzy has had. his playing always
seems to take you somewhere.
Saw Randy twice, Jake twice.
Randy is most definitely the God and deserves everything said about him. I was just in awe watching him. He was so tiny but his presence, beyond measure.
But at the end of the day Jake is way more my style and the guy I always could identify with from a playing perspective.
The first two Badlands albums are some of my faves. Voodoo Highway in particular.
Its a real shame what sharon and ozzy did to him. I agree Ozzy's best guitar player.
I'd LOVE to hear one of these ...
Jake was always my favorite too. Great riffs and great tone. Shame the Osborne's completely ignore him.
Never heard the story behind it. Do share please
Extremely well rounded player. Rhythm/riff writing, ripping solo's, ad-libbed fills, great live performer, tone, unique playing ideas while smack in the middle of the copy cat era, etc. No doubt in my mind even if OzZy had never stumbled across him and inserted him in the band he still would've found fame as a guitarist.
After RR Jake I thought was my favorite guitar player that Ozzy had. Not taking anything away from Zakk. Zakk had long term success and Jake bailed too early. I really like Red Dragon Cartel. His playing is truly what you would expect if you like growth in a players style.
The piece of shit Osburne did not (and still doesn't) give Jake credit or royalties for The Ultimate Sin recordings.
Oh come on, You know ozzy came up with all them riffs in between mumbling incoherently and shitting in his pants..
I remember Jake's recent interview when he mentioned Ozzy asking him to play in the reunion tour. Jake said he offered to reunite for free if Ozzy would give him his credit due. Ozzy refused, so Jake told him to F'off.
Love both of those albums!
Anytime, Brother Mitch.
Jake's influences totally came through on those albums, in particular Voodoo. The Hendrix stuff is obvious, but there are a lot of Rick Derringer and Tommy Bolin nods as well.
A buddy of mine says there was a 3rd album but the band was already done by the time it came out. I never saw it.
IDK if anyone else knows or if there was a post already, but Lee Kerslake died a few days ago. Mr. Daisley is getting up there too and God knows those two, along with RR, and Jake did all the heavy lifting for Ozzy
I think Bob and Lee are/were criminally underrated at their respective duties- and at least Jake's guitars didn't get overdubbed like Lee and Bob.
Yea there was a 3’rd album I don’t have it but somewhere on this forum there is a reference to it, and I want to say it was after the original singer had passed.
But I am not sure!
Life is not fair, who would of guessed.
The episode of 'Tone Talk' with Jake was pretty good!
