He must have mixed them up. Wilkinson was first, all his personal guitars have Wilkinsons (and all the early JB Sigs had them), Wilkinson stopped making their version, and Fender's LSR has been in continuous production ever since Fender started making their own version to replace the Wilkinson. Did he buy all of the Wilkinsons Fender had on hand when Fender made the switch? Maybe, sure it's possible. I don't know if people like Clapton, Beck, Johnson actually have to buy anything from Fender. I've always assumed that their endorsements make so much money for Fender that they get stuff free. Pretty sure that if Jeff had just asked them to reserve the rest of their Wilkinsons for him, they'd have been glad to save them for him for free. But maybe stars actually pay for stuff so they can write them off on taxes. Or maybe he loves them so much he bought the Wilkinsons just to make sure changes in management couldn't jeopardize his stash.
ok ok its probably me mixing it up. come to think of it i think they might have actually been talking about Trev in this interview. so ok lets go with your version. bottom line is ole jeff has a lot of roller nuts on stash lol.
They have the whole nut at sweetwater. $25. I have the same nut in my 93 strat plus so I may grab one just in case in the future my nut coughs up its balls..I got an extra.
The Wilkinson is the rollers and the LSR is the balls of the lost nut. Fender used the Wilkinson and the balls both on other Strats besides the Jeff Beck model.... And it is within Fender tradition to always have replacement parts for all the products sold (within reason).
There is shims which adjust the height of your balls. The shims of different thickness can be removed replaced to set the guitar.
