Yup, it's getting pretty close … Friday was 37 weeks, so we've been told that she's officially at term, and it's now just a matter of timing as to when she's ready to come out. She's down with my folks right now while I'm spending the week up here getting some work done, so hopefully nothing happens for at least another week (though, i'm guessing it'll be another couple/few weeks). We had a 4D ultrasound done last week, and it was the first time we've actually seen her face (so exciting!). I was telling this story to someone the other day, but while I had been looking forward to this week alone, I now find myself really missing my wife and sharing the experience together … which is to say, I don't think I could be more mentally prepared for what's to come. I'm officially ready.
For me the birth of my first child was, and still is the greatest moment of my life. It really gave my life a new found perspective and meaning. I hope the experience is the same for you. Peace and best wishes X-roads..........
Well, the first real contraction happened last night, and she just had another one about a half hour ago. We went to the doctor this afternoon for our regularly scheduled appointment, and they told us there's a chance that she might be born before our next appointment next week. Then again maybe not lol. I wish there was a better way to predict this stuff, as I'm starting to get REALLY excited!
Does she prefer Strat or LP? Just an observation dude: Looks like you have your hands full now (?) Her first Solid Body 6 string.... Her first Plexi... Her first Gig....(emotional times) Her first Mosh pit.... Yeah man, it's a big commitment and responsibility. Good luck w/ that.
Man, just around the corner! Tell her to skip the epidural, I hear its a magical experience! HA! Just kidding! Its HELL from what I understand! My father-in-law (anesthesiologist) tells me lots of moms-to-be come in ready to give it a go with no meds, until those contractions start to really arrive! Then its "give me the F'ing drugs!!". Hows the temp there? Is she dying from the heat? Our kids were summer kiddos, and I remember my ex just being SO all done with being pregnant during the heat of Texas.
Well, that was officially my first Happy Father's Day greeting … will always remember that one, so thanks!!!
Yeah, I've encouraged her to use her listen to her own body, but she's adamant about not being drugged up (which i really respect). I'd say the chances of her using medication to get though it is about 0%. I think I'm actually more concerned about her being in pain than she is (i know it's going to be difficult for me to see her in pain, but i want to be supportive of whatever she wants to do). The heat / humidity has been pretty heavy at times which has been rough on her, but it cooled down yesterday which made things better. While we're trying to take plenty of walks, we're spending the rest of the time in air conditioning. I guess the upside is that a summer birthday party is more fun than a winter birthday party?
Tomorrow is the expected delivery date, but I admittedly thought she'd be born a little early for some reason … probably wishful thinking because I'm excited. I was born 2 weeks early, and my sister was born 2 weeks late, so maybe this will split the difference and she'll arrive between now and the end of the weekend? We had a doctors appointment yesterday, and she's doing great … just a matter of when she's ready to come out, and if she's anything like me, she'll make the decision on her own irrespective of what we want
