I recently bought this cab in an auction and had limited pics from which to identify it. I was thinking it was a 72’ cab, but based on the speakers I’m pretty sure It is a 74 cab, which means I missed getting Pulsonic cones I was hoping for. Regardless it’s a great looking cab. I will fire it up this weekend and run my 2204 head from my high school days through. I know some of you guys have great eyes for detail, so if you see anything odd let me know. I’ll start by saying the rivets on the handles look rather new. Also, the checkerboard grill cloth is in great shape and the cover came with it. Is the cover original?

I don't know if '74 exactly, but definitely 70's if those Rola's are original. Plus the castors & gold piping. I'd like to see the front grille, and what's up with the back - it looks inside-out? Plastic handles look 70's to me too. The cover does appear original.

But, it's been a long LONG time and I don't exactly have one to compare.

    1974A

Castors in this pic do not match your cab (concurs with other pics):

    Another view of '74 castors:

My guess on the castors: as the ones on your cab do not concur with other pics of the '74, I would think of three possibilities for aftermarket castors:

    1. Marshall cabs did not always come with castors, so they could have been added.
    2) I've seen cabs come with the plastic sockets, but no castors, so they could have been added.
    3. It came with nothing, and both the sockets AND castors were added.

I'm not an expert, but, I think the handles went plastic around '71...

I’m thinking mine are original without any other basis than they look old and not made in China. I think we’ll get that figured out shortly!

We’re there different colts of checkerboard weave? Your cab has the black and grey colors while mine is in the brown tone. Perhaps it’s just smoke residue?

ok, I knew someone would ask that, so here’s the deal. I bought it for $669 plus tax. Then I had it packed and shipped which was about $400. Basically, I feel I’m into it for $1,200 which I would have been cool with, if it were a 72” with pulmonic cones. I try to make myself feel better by saying it’s in great shape and that worth something to guys”like me” who might want to put it their living room, where a similar roached out can would be appropriate.

$100 of that was packing and it was very well packed. The distance was from Texas to So Cal. It was a 4 day FedEx shipment

Yeah sorry, I think what I'm saying is that the ones in my photos look aftermarket, the ones in the OP are likely genuine. Originally I thought the opposite. Lemme know if I'm still not making sense (I'm a little distracted tonight). :D
