I tried to test Ts9 pedal with my Silver Jubilee amp and half of the people liked that and the other half was pissed :) and I am really surprised to get some reactions like "how dear you play with tube screamer!" kind of comments.
So what do you think is it that bad???

Btw I am making this video to get more experience and learn...

Like if I were to say that a TS can almost make a Jubilee sound good?

As for the legality, it is not legal to use a tube screamer on the clean channel of any amp besides a Fender and only with a Strat; and when you do use it with a Fender please give me advance warning so that I may excuse myself from the room.

    PS: Good video!

i always thought that folks ran these amps wide open
and no dirt pedals of any kind.
i think we have a member or two, 1 in Canada and 1
in Chicago that own these amps. maybe they will chime in.
i dont know that this pedal did the amp any justice though.

It's all legal, it's just some may consider it a crime against humanity.
I'm not next door to you though so knock yourself out.
It's sounded okay to me except when you had all three knobs wide open.

Whenever I hear a TS9 in front of anything the tone becomes SRV regardless of the amp.

    Are you sure?

I have it on good authority that no one has ever managed to extract a palatable tone out of any Mesa product ever made without one

I forgot to mention. I am not big on SRV's tone.

You see what he's doing there? He keeps bending down $599.99 times to keep adjusting the thing. Why not just put it on a stool a table? That's why I HATES pedals!

Otherwise, when the heck did I become the mighty Shikaka of pedals? :D

Regardless, funny you should ask. Because if there's any one pedal I ever hated, it's the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer. I remember when they came out. And I also remember when they met their final destiny in the old box full of cables and cheap mics and junk parts. And I remember when Kermit Hamster of Metallica praised them in an early 90's magazine interview. Not long after that, the originals began to resurface at ridiculous prices because of Kermit's interview, when "vintage" became a word that, for the first time ever, was applied to something other than wine and old furniture.

So when Ibanez began re-releasing them again in order to make gains on some of that new vintage payola, I bought one. Again. :applause: ... And I took it home, plugged it into my maplifier, and there it was - that same old dull, toneless, sound that made us chuck them at fast-moving cargo trains back in the day.

So, guess what I did with it, just for old time's sake?

(No, I didn't chuck it at a train. I sold it on eBay.)

But here's the twist: despite the fact that I have never knowingly heard a tube screamer used in a way that I truly liked, I will say that I think the Silver Jube tone in the OP is one of the coolest Marshall sounds I've heard. So, excellent job on that. :yesway:

Keep on Rockin' in the New World Order.

I run mine with a DOD Death Metal as a boost.... That is to get early Death Metal tones though. For rock and metal I use a clean boost upfront and I sometimes use two. I use one as my main rhythm and then kick on a second one for a lead boost.

There’s only one way, in my opinion, to use a tubescreamer with a Marshall, as a clean boost.

1st - when tone searching, put your pedal where you can reach it.
