I’d like to hire you. There’s no tech or anyone around here that knows what they’re doing. They just think that they do.

I have a couple of Marshall amps that need tweaked.

I've built a few 18watters out of old hammond chassis and modded a few amps and done cap jobs....id be hesitant to take on an amp project right now but might be able to give ya advice or point ya some were for DIY stuff.
What amps? Problems and/or tweaks you looking for?

    I’m in Erie Pa.

There used to be a really good knowledgeable guy here, but he retired.

I’d even be willing to do the changes, the soldering myself. I just don’t know what to change and where, but I guess that’s the trick ,isn’t it !

The amps are a dsl5cr. A Origin 5c and possibly a class 5 head. Maybe more. Lol. It would take to much typing to tell you everything at this point.

I just looked you up, you got Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh your closest cities, theres gotta be an amp tech in any one of those locations. Ampmadscientist is always posting certified Marshall tech addresses, ask him wheres the closest to you.

AMS requested that his account be deleted.
DoD had posted something about it.
    No reasons why.

Actually isn't Voodoo amps around Binghamton New York? Seems they would be the closest to Pa. and they are really good (if you can get em to do it).

Sounds like OP wants to mod 3 small amps. Maybe he can be more specific about what he’s trying to achieve.

His crystal ball works better than mine, but

We were told not to speak of this or risk being banned. How’s that for cryptic?

This is one thing that I’m trying to achieve. The Plexi mod for my Class 5 head.
Another is someway to fix or adjust the volume knob on my Origin 5. It’s really thin and lifeless until it hits about 75% volume. I was wondering if there’s a way to change somethings so it’ll sound decent at lower volume level. Maybe different resistors or a different pot. Just guessing.

I can post more examples if you want, but mostly just little nit picky stuff.

I’ll hunt for a tech in Pittsburgh or Buffalo. Maybe if I call some music stores in their area, they could give recommendations.

Another example is to mod my DSL 5cr like someone did to my DSL 15. They fixed the red channel so it’s actually useable.

My advice is to make separate threads for each of these problems and put them in the workbench section. Specifically, I would ask about the DSL five first and see what kind of a response you get.

I nodded my dsl15c......converted ultra channel to od1.....but 2 major changes beyond that was to locate and swap the bright cap from 470p to 100p....and to lower the fizzy gain I raised v1b cathode resistor from 1.8k to 4.7k......lots of guys use a 2.7k here but for me even a 3.9k was harsh.....way more class is sounding now
