The recent thread by @ibmorjamn got me thinking about my next Hack.
I fully intend to take a DSL40CR and turn it into a DSL40HR , Inverted with the Amp Oriented properly for cooling.
@Matthews Guitars is an Inverted Face Plate for a project like this something you could produce ?

Definitely not at this time. I'm serving only the "vintage" JMP/JTM/some JCM800 market. Basically all the models that are based on the four input non-master volume and two input master volume chassis, such as the 1959 Super Lead, the 1987 50 watt Lead, the 2203 100 watt master volume, and 2204 50 watt master volume models, and all other models built on the SAME chassis.

For me to expand beyond that line, I have to have examples to copy from. Examples in my hands. And there are setup charges for artwork, printing, and sheet metal work. This costs and I have to have reasonable expectations of selling dozens of examples of any given model for it to break even.

I would go ahead and use the original faceplate upside down. If it bugs you too much (and it will pretty much only be you who has to look at it) you can get one made to replace it further down the line.

By doing a head conversion, would that make this the world's first DSL40HR?

And from what I recall, the Dsl40c’s chassis can fit in the lead 100 mosfet headshell !!

Maybe not the first ……but it would be cool !!
I’ve got a DSL100HR and I love it ……I’ve got the channel switching programed into my Boss ES Based pedalboards via MIDI …… The 40R Head combined with my 1966 Cab would be very sweet !!

You are talking about swapping the DSL to the what ever amp head box to invert ?
For me it’s a 18w 4 input but I have it covered. I might do my own plate and just use a label maker for now. If I like it and build a 2nd one I will make it look good. I don’ t have to do a marshall copy but they make good good sense as rock n roll Lol

You could do one-offs at a trophy shop for a higher price but my aim is to provide restoration grade examples for the JMP series and other "early" Marshall classics. They're being made to the maximum level of detailed authenticity that I can possibly swing.

I would be building a Head Box for the CR Chassis Inverted to have the Valves facing upward …… It’s the MIDI switching in the R that I’m after…

I wonder if a plate from a DSL100H with a few mods(It appears to be longer than the 40C) would work?
