So this thing is soon to be on its way to me:

    481_97184394.jpg 481_109897906.jpg 481_289729079.jpg 481_-368645991.jpg 481_601745275.jpg 481_631826565.jpg 481_732363669.jpg 481_1202843933.jpg 481_-1757417537.jpg

There's this guy on my local auction site that imports these japanese built Orvilles and Epis with the open book headstock and I've been following him for quite a while now. I knew it was a bad idea to set notifications for when he uploads new ads, but dammed I seriously just couldn't resist.

The Les Paul Custom is my alltime favourite guitar design when it comes to Gibson. Both the Black and Gold as well as the Silverburts and the Wine Red models make me drool everytime I see them.

Now I don't have the dough to afford a real one, I will probably one day but I have this itch and it needs scratching. I hope this will do for a while.

I'll keep you guys posted, you can expect a NGD thread probably next week. For now pictures will have to do. God how I hate waiting :p

Nice looking guitar, I thought you wanted a real Gibby and was gonna save up? Dude you gotta be patient and not let the money burn a hole in your pocket. It did take me a year of saving to get my dream goldtop but it was worth it. :yesway:

700 bucks which is ok in my book for a Japanese guitar. I only had good experiences with MIJ so far so fingers crossed this one doesn't dissapoint either :)

I know the feeling man, almost all my electrics are black. Just can't go wrong with that color :D

It's listed as 4 kilos, so shy of 9 pounds. My heaviest guitar is 3,6 kilos so I guess I know what to expect. Time to get a proper leather strap I guess.

These were licensed by Gibson to be built in Japan. So if the reputation of these is true it should be a decent LP.

I know, I just couldn't resist. I am in the process of selling off quite a good amount of gear that will help me collect cash for the real Gibson fund but I need something I can play with the band in the meantime and in regards to looks this thing is right up my alley. I believe CharvelDan has one and is happy with it. We'll see, I'll keep ya guys posted :)

Saw this video the other day. I'm not expecting anything spectacular. I had a Gibson LP Studio that was ok but nothing special, if the Orville is on the same level but has the added looks I'll be a happy camper. One way or the other, I paid, she's shipped so all that there is left to do is to keep some fingers crossed! Worst case I can flip her for the same amount I bought her for :)

I'll keep ya all posted. Thing comes with Gotoh PAFs, can't wait to plug her into my 2203 and play some rock n roll hehe :D

Good choice. I know it was discussed in another thread but for all intensive purposes it is a Japanese made Gibson.
Those that have Japanese made Epiphones swear by them. The Orvilles are supposed to be a step up.

    Here is a Japanese example.

I think the year in the ad may be wrong. Epiphone went to the dog eared head stock in the late '80's.

I sure as hell hope so, considering Chibsons are counterfeit Chinese instruments and Orvilles are officially licensed by Gibson MIJ guitars :fever:

p.s.: the wait is already killing me

I didnt know this about Orville, I thought they were a lawsuit guitar from the past.

Thats a good looking guitar, the fact that youre buying it from a dealer means it will be setup well unlike mine I had to put alot of work into it to make it playable. :yesway:
