Do any oft the new models even come with Texas Specials anymore? Fender's doing some things I don't like again. Are their guitars even still made of wood? I gotta have Texas Specials and grease bucket controls, a real maple neck, 7.5lbs, white, vintage style (but not with the old school wide bride) and no gadgets, no square cutout for the truss rod by the neck pickup. Whattawe got that's any good right now? Oh - and no frooty colors. And WTH makes a Jazz Master worth over $2K, the frigging things what they are?
... and also, what have I gotta do, place an order by phone, pay for it and wait 6 days, then pick it up curbside like I'm ordering a pizza? I ain't been out in the last 10 months, do I still hafta wear a mask curbside too? I don't know, but I gotta have a Strat, you people.
Well, out of the 600+ Fender Stratocasters Fender has been offering, surely you can find something that fits the bill?
i pretty much pay zero attention to the pickguard & pups when buying used and only pay marginal attention on a new strat.. mebbe consider buy the one (colour/neck etc) you want then get a loaded pickguard with texas specials and flip the stock one?.. and when you say white.... vintage white? arctic white? or olympic white ?
I'd be trying a Jimmie Vaughan..... https://shop.fender.com/en-US/elect.../jimmie-vaughan-tex-mex-strat/0139202305.html Might work for you, just a good old Strat.
Don't forget White Blonde -- slightly translucent white where you can see the wood grain faintly peeking through.
Grab one of the AVRI's from a few years back if you see one. This is my 1959. It is one of the best playing and resonant guitars I've ever played. This picture won't show but it chips and wears so easily with the thin finish. It was scratched a little even brand new so i got a little discount when i bought it. I just used that as leverage but i really didn't give a shit. I like a worn in strat.
That's pretty much why my next guitar's a partscaster: even though Fender has a quite large catalogue, I can't find exactly the specs I want, short of a getting a CS (which is WAY above budget). You'll have an easier time shopping for the exact parts you want, and piecing together your ideal guitar, probably will end up cheaper too.
Yes, go on Stratosphere and buy the components. Put together the exact Strat you want using genuine Fender parts.
^ I like all of those. I got this one this afternoon. It's an American Professional II with the V-Mod II pickups or whatever they call them.
