I have to rant. Vintage parts and new builds...just stop it.

Wow! I too have this similar story! I was honored for the knowledge freely given to me by these C.F. Martin Historians!!!
I cannot express how lucky I was when he was alive. He told stories upon stories. I was humbled and learned a ton!

I believe the Martin Luthiers of this day have moved North to Canada, and his name is Michael Greenfield

My ears take me to Spragues 715 & Mallory 150 Capacitors for most applications.

Metal Film & Carbon Film fir most Resistors.

There are paces & times I deviate.

Not a fan of the Sozo’s.

That's typically where a lot of Dr. Z amps venture to, too. At least the ones I've been inside.

Wow, how about you let the person know (who is going to pay you nice money) that you could not find this one original resistor, and you had to put in a new one. Tell them it is better quality that what you could not find but since it is not an original that you will take 50 cents off the selling price. If they walk away they did not want the amp to being with. Either that or step up your game in the sourcing department.

Sorry to sound like an ass, but your thread is just plain silly.

I have seen some things in my time on the World Wide Web, but this one does rank up there.

Especially since a lot can still be found cheap. Here's the 1.1 kg mustards I picked up yesterday. I actually paid for tubes and they came with them for free. 33 pieces of 22nF

I picked up a 1974 clone TMB 18 watt kit off Craigslist a few years ago. Had to do some work in it and sure enough it had Piher resistors, NOS 1974 turret board in it, and some very nice NOS capacitors for the build. It has some authenticity and greatness to the tone that you have to play to appreciate. I have no complaints.
