Yeah mine is doing the same thing to the binding, the back of the neck and body are in really great shape, I didn't want a pristine new one... The more I play it the happier I am that i got it....

I am also running a smaller pulley on the blower and demon injectors in the Hellcat it is putting down around 750 at the wheels and scares the hell out of me every time I get on it ;)

    750 is quite some fun….

I have a few ponies that are sitting @ 12-1500 to the ground, and the ProMods sitting 25-35 to the ground.

That 750 will get cha to the stripe quick!

Is the pulley you installed within the specs for the blower? Yah sure don’t want to send it into orbit…
Had a buddy overlook that detail and we had LIFTOFF:cheers:

    That’s a beautiful guitar.
    I love the finish.
That’s Gibson’s top of the line guitar IMO.
I really hope you enjoy that guitar I am happy for you!

Oh yeah , Ive seen a lotta R9 necks ....bceause EVERYBODY I know has one !! They are not bad . I have a 2001 USA production Deluxe that has that neck . My friend had an R0 LP Special ,it had a pretty beefy neck , not as big as the '54 & '57 , but not one Id refuse either

Congrats to the OP, that R9 is a beauty. I have a 1999 R9 and that guitar is a keeper for sure. I just wish I would stop chasing my tail with pickup swaps :) The original 57 Classics continue to sound the best to these ears, not sure why I just don't go back to them and stay there.

I actually went back to the 57 Classic from the 36h anni ,which I actually love , but Im liking the Classic now .

I thought I liked the DP223 , but I think if I buy anymore , I'll stick with the DP103. I actually have a few of those from high school days , still in use

I found the DP 223 sounded great in some guitars but too fat for my tastes in others.

The current DP 103 is now called the 36th anniversary neck, but works great in the bridge or the neck in just about any guitar.

I'm planning on probably installing two DP103 anniversaries in an up coming guitar.

The Air Classic might be a good alternative to the old DP103 from back in the day, too.

I've had the DP103 in the bridge of my '72 MIJ Strat since 1992 when I bought it new and hacked it. I had that thing sounding unbelievable back in the day-O.
