Not sure where to post this, so mods please move it if it needs to be in a different place..:hmm:

I keep a humidifier in my Dudecave/music room so that my instruments get proper watering, it's actually a whole house humidifier with a central location in that room. It's been a good one, but after about eight years of service I fear it's going on the fritz.

Any of Y'all have any recommendations for a good replacement? It needs to be a whole house unit, rather than a countertop model. Hoping to stay around $100.00 price-wise.

Thanks Vin! The one I've been using was the 2.5 gal. version of that, and it's been a good one!

When I bought it we had a smaller house, maybe the 5 gal. model would be the way to go.

“Whole house” my @ss, so I use two 2.5 gal’s. for more even humidification. Plus, two is also better because you have to fill them less often, which I’m sure no know, gets real old real quick. One more tip: as with any evap model that uses wicking pads (the best type actually), each time you let them run dry, they lose effectiveness a LOT faster than if you keep ‘em full of water.

Yeah, and lastly, get some antibacteriostat to add in them. Otherwise bacteria and slime can build up, which is unhealthy and it stinks.
