So someone etched all that in there to enhance the myth? :noplease:

I would buy it if I wanted it. If I got "taken" ...by how much really?? Would prefer buyer protection though.

A few grand would be a different game.

I was avoiding this pic because this inscription, specially with the spelling mistake... I don´t know if the guitar is good, but man that´s an interesting tale!

I’m a little skeptical of the Floyd Rose being recessed because Eddie never used recessed Floyds and used top mounted ones.

Unless he went through a phase of trying a recessed one out, I think it would be a more authentic prototype if it wasn’t recessed AFAIK.

the routing around the pots looks the same, the type of wiring, pot... if that´s a fake, they did it very nicely

New evh pickups are what? $199 a piece? So figure $300 used, just in pickups. Add in other parts and how much risk is really there? Offer him 5 and go from there. Seems like a lot of work to make a fake that doesn't cover the bases a fake usually covers..fake serial #, made in usa, all the bells n whistles..ect.

I'm not an expert, but are there a lot of made in mexico fakes out there?..who fakes mexican made instruments?..for what..to make $200 over cost of parts?

    Like this man said ^^

Tell him there's no way of telling its a partscaster or something real, therefore you are at 500 max. He'll likely accept

Comparing this to the one Filipe posted, his looks a little different... it might be the angle of the photo?

Try to look for small details, screw hole locations, wood cut etc etc...

And as mentioned before the fact there is no proof can play in your favor.

I just received the reply from FMIC.

    Hello Filipe,

Thanks for reaching out. Without a serial number, I can't 100% guarantee authenticity. Though from the build, it looks legit. Apologies that I couldn't give a more definitive answer here. Have a nice day!

    Regards,

It's more likely that I'll buy the guitar.

I would say pass on the fact that its floyd rose " special" bridge.. i have had 2 guitars with these. It's not an original floyd rose. Its floyd rose's take on a licensed trem lol. Mine were both terrible and would NOT stay in tune..... i have 4 guitars with original ones.. night and day difference.....

Usually prototypes are marked as such. Since this guitar has no serial number, etc. It's hard to say what it is. Maybe FMIC can tell you if they marked prototypes and if so, how. Good luck!

If it is indeed a prototype it would for sure have no serial numbers. Pat # usually aren't issued until long after the final and what would be the most current versions that include dimensions are submitted. If they are asking for nothing ridiculous because of the 'proto" label i would buy it. But being a proto could be a double edged sword. I would for sure go see it in person, feel the weight, feel the balance when strapped and by all means play the damn thing. It looks great to me. Must not be a player who's selling it. Good luck. In the famous words of Tom Sawyer, When in doubt, Always do it!
