Hey all! I've been playing an AVT head through 1960 cabs for the last ten years or so at home. I'm a truck driver so I only have a couple hours every Sunday to be "out and about". Started jammin' with a friend in August, bought my 1st tube combo (Haze 40) I love it, but I GOTTA HAVE MORE !!!! I absolutely Love the 1987x reissue, I WILL have one, heh heh! I love blues mainly, but also rock and metal with a little funk thrown in.

    Welcome 12bar,

What's that device labelled 'Tech 21'?
I think you're trying to kill it - (by squashing it between two Marshall cabs).

No matter - that looks like some gear I would like to hear cranked up.

That's my midi switcher pedal. I have a payne labs "K Switch" in my rack cabinet to switch all the pedals for the stack; awesome piece of gear! Here's a vid with me playing through my stack.

    Thanks 12bar,

I was only listening through headphones but....

That Star Spang Banner was only okay, soundwise: I followed to your Marine Corps Hymn - that was another level of goodness. Shorter but sweeter.

Well, you can't really judge via youtube and headphones, just saying.

Thanks...I think...The Star Spangled Banner's audio was recorded using the Sony digital camera; the audio for Marine Corps Hymn was recorded with a shure sm57 on the grill facing the center of one of the cones, no effects were added

    Hey 12bar,

Well, to me, that just shows that even if your vid is going to be compressed by youtube and heard by old guys like me with headphones in the middle of the night...

...the version recorded with the quality mic will still be much better.
You can definitely hear the difference.

I mean, I know we can't really hear what person's rig sounds like on youtube (with headphones) - but when I listened to the Marine Corps Hymn real loud I thought I was getting a reasonable idea of what it sounds like.

    Sounds good.

    Hey tubes,

Thanks man! Yeah, Star Spangled Banner was my very first Youtube vid and Marine Corps Hymn was my second. Hopefully, I will get better over time at recording vids. You can check out some of my other recorded (audio) stuff at ReverbNation

    Thanks man, take care!

    I been listening on ReverbNation.
I think I ended up listening to everything you have there.

Love those Christmas songs. You get a different guitar tone on each one - but a great sound for each.

I have a Strat type guitar here (a Fernandes) but it never sounds as good as that.

I think it's because I normally play my V, then I plug in the Fernandes but I haven't really understood what amp and pedal settings should change when I do that.

Your Strat always seems to have loads of sustain, always cuts through and is always clear.

I think I might need to ask you about your pedals.
But I suppose we shouldn't make this intro thread too long - so I'll see you on the forums.

    Tubes,

OK man, you can msg me if you want to :) I love to talk about gear; mine, yours, doesn't matter. That's why I joined the forum, right?

I will probably record another Youtube vid shortly, going over my gear in detail.

    Cheers!
