My daughter meant she'd like to play bass, so i got her a bass for Christmas. Because availability of gear is a gamble i decided to buy early. I ordered a Harley Benton HBZ-2004, but the delivery date slipped further and further, so i called Thomann and changed the HBZ-2004 for the next higher model of their Harley Benton bass lineup and got her a Harley Benton BZ-4000NT. I was curious how the bass would be, having mixed experience with various Harley Bentons in the past ( from great guitar to refund ). And today it arrived: 18 Volts active pickups, Neck thru, sounds great, looks boutique. Fretwork and finish is unbelievable good at the price point. Tuners feel a bit flimsy, but seem to stay in tune (can't really judge it yet after playing for half an hour). Setup is okay ( Neck relief is fine, action a bit to high for my taste ). Now I'm really thinking about buying the larger 6-String (BZ-6000NT) variant for my self. Especially the 18V pickups sound great when pushing the preamp tubes in the Plexi from gainy tones, over harder distortion into a fuzzy tone when all pots on the bass are on 11.
