I saw them the first tour with Jannick (No Prayer?) and I couldn't believe how bad he was, but after 25 years his lead playing has really come along. I think it would have to, playing next to Adrian and Dave. And he has an old school Stat tone that's pretty killer.
I have not listened to much after Fear of the Dark, and pretty much thought it was over for Maiden when I heard it 25 years ago, but I've been listening to Brave New World and The Final Frontier lately and honestly there is some really good shit on those records, and I think it's great that Maiden can pretty much write, record, and tour the kind of material that they want to at this point in their career. I think The Final Frontier is totally relevant.
The Bruce Dickinson solo records are damn good also, worth a listen if you're even remotely into Maiden.

I have a fender bass for recording and don’t play it often.
But when I do I have to do the Steve Harris fake machine gun bit. It’s so metal.
