Hey guys! I recently purchased this Marshall Lead 12 combo and wondered what year it was built. After looking at the serial # S00100 I thought it looked a bit weird so I emailed Marshall and asked about the year it was built. You can see by the included email as to what they said. This amp model was manufactured from 1984-1991. According to my serial # mine was the 100th amp built in 1984 (The first year of production).
The "S" stands for year it was built and numbers after are manufacturing numbers. Mine is 100 which would make this the #100 Lead 12 combo built. How cool!

I'm only going by what Marshall says and doing some research online. Does this look legit to everyone? See the emails from Marshall and pics of the serial# and amp below.

Very Clean for an 84 Lead 12 you have there. I recently won one off the bay for $90. Had a faulty transistor, easy fix. T14601, so that makes it a 1985 model, but 14601 made? Hard to believe, if so. I replaced the pots , jacks and add a speaker jack so I can use with a cab while I was in there.

I have one for sale. It was pretty cool when I was just starting out and saw one new in the store. Doesn't do it for me anymore.
