So I found this video the other day:

Apparently there's this certain guy on Reverb that buys gear for low prices and sells it for outrageous sums... and people pay for it. He bought all of Dave Mustaines gear and relisted it for profits that are in the thousands percentage wise. Like a Banjo that was sold for 400 dollars was relisted for 21 grand, a guitar that was sold for not even 3k was relisted for 71 grand...

Just watch the video. I know the guy from browsing Reverb, I always saw his ads and thought to myself "good luck getting that kind of money buddy" but apparently it works. Dick move, but can you blame him when people really pay?

Crazy world we live in...

It only sucks if one will pay the bs prices. Free market has rules.

The thing is, every famous musician that sells their gear always sells it for more than it's worth used just because they owned it. A lot of those Artist Reverb Shops overprice their stuff just because it was owned by so and so. It's kind of ridiculous.

everytime a smartass and a dumbass cross each other you have a closed deal.

this guy is a well known ass, specially among the ESP community, but no one has to buy anything from him.

    Thats a LOT of profit.

Its a dick move if you're exploiting vulnerable people such as widows or old folk who have no idea of the value of inherited gear.

Otherwise it's just good business to me. If people have disposable income, I'm happy to get some if it. The prices are pretty extortionate though.

The irony here is that Dean double for 35k, Kiesel could build you a custom double for around 10k and be way nicer than the Dean.

Well, when it comes down to who's the bigger idiot, I would have to say the buyer!

There's a lot of douchbags out there pulling scams, and it's everything from musical gear to homes..I saw a news report in which they were saying first-time home buyers are getting pushed out of the market by investors buying houses and flipping them for a huge profit. Everything's a hustle to some, but that's really nothing new..:noplease:

The bad part is there ARE people that will pay those inflated prices, and then other sellers see that happening and jack up their prices accordingly..Kind of a vicious cycle that leaves the folks without deep pockets out in the cold.

Have a 90 eds1275 and an 86 carvin dn6/12 and in all honesty the Carvin is the better of the two. I wish they would reissue those.

No matter who owned, played, or endorses it I won't pay anything extra. If I was looking for a certain amp, found 2. One was in bad shape but played by some big name guy, the other was in great shape but owned John Smith, I'll take Johnny's any day of the week.

    Do your research.

I went to Jake's Music Swap Meet in Barto. Pa this morning.

A vendor had 2 used Fender Squier Red Sparkle Telecasters at $295.00 each.

You can buy them new for $199.00 each.

I left without anything soon after I got there.

There are plenty of thieves out there.

    Do your research.

I see a lot of stuff like this on CL and often with student model classic guitars. They are usually Amazon $80-$90 guitars, the guy will do a "set up" and replace the nut and saddle with bone and put premium strings on it and price it at $300+.

It's kind of smart as in he is targeting uneducated parents looking for a beginner guitar for their child. He hypes it up that it's "Professionally" set up and has quality upgrades and gives a "garuntee" on the set up... Kinda sleazy in a way but at the same time if you're going to spend money you should be educated on what you're buying.

To the OP, I really don't see a problem with what that seller is doing. If he is buying up guitars used by various artist and immediately re listing them for more, and people pay, can you blame him? Something is worth what someone is willing to pay, also anyone that pays for it at the marked up price didn't do the work or hunt it down like he did otherwise they would have got it for the lesser price instead of him.

Now if some rich guy buys ALL and I mean every guitar on the market and resells them for more, that would be pretty messed up in my opinion.

its the old Carvin company. hands down the most beautiful finishes one can get.
carvin made to order and they delivered too. they play very smooth and owners were proud.
their QC was just as amazing as their product too. CS tops.
the son runs the company now but ive never played any of his products under the new name.
word has it the products have only gotten better. i cant imagine that even being the case.
how can on improve on "just damned amazing" right lol. the beauty of their guitars just
can not be matched. PRS is damn sure trying though.
