P90's , the "sound of rock" (stole that from Doyle's Marshall series )
I was lucky and turned on to 'em very early in my guitar playing life .So many great rock guitar tones with p90s .....Marriott ,Townsend, Mott / Bad Co, Aerosmith, Hunter / Wagner .....did I say LESLIE WEST ?

A friend of mine who knows nothing about guitars ,said of my VOS Junior,"That guitar is amazing , you could probably do your whole set on just that guitar."
In some ways ,he was absolutely correct , some minor adjustments per song ,and I probably could do it all on just that guitar . There's a reason I probably have more p90 guitars than anything

Can't speak for the Wilshire , but the Coronet is absolutely insane , best guitar I bought in the last year.

I "only" have 2 P90 guitars, and my Gibson junior 2018 is a fantastic guitar, sounds amazing, should be great to bring on stage when everything finally is opening up again.

The $289 Coronet was gone by morning.
But now I have P90 GAS...
Just ordered a Tele Deluxe P90 pickguard for a mod on my burl top kit tele.
Hasn't seen much play time since the dragon tele, so a few parts may give it a second life.
Looking at GFS pups with a quick-plug harness, and a cutaway Tele bridge.
A little router work and it would be a drop in.
Open to recommendations for other P90 options - anyone?

I have never been able to get along with P90s except in the '54 ES125 I grew up playing. I've had a few guitars with P90s over the years and I always end up being unimpressed.

I know that they have made some of the best music EVER. Just the modern equivalents are missing something to me that the old ones have. And now even Vintage Juniors are out of control price wise.

That said, most of the Tribute series from Gibsons are always fantastic deals. I have a 2018 Goldtop (humbuckers) that is a very nice guitar.

Lol! I am in good company...
4 guitars I have shortlisted as next buy.
3 of them are featured here.
Wanted a Crestwood Custom or Coronet/Wilshire, almost same price at stores here. I preferred the strange Crestwood with its mini HB's actually!

Then I found the LP Special Tribute, same video as OP , YT suggested, the buggers!! Was blown away! Amazing bang for the buck, love the sound and yes I neeeed a P90 !!
Never thought I could afford a Gibson or go near one, other than playing in stores:hbang:

    But now, well... Let's see.

As of now, gotta save the funds, it's Navaratri and then Diwali season here, our main festival and brings with it commitments that break the bank :agreed:

Hehe, on top of everything my Boss RC3 went kaput this week!
Just when I started with saving for the Big G :(
Gotta get a looper first :hmm:
    Edit: damn,long rant !!

    I got one :applause:

    Pics to follow.

plays and feels amazing. Rings out well acoustically and loudly.

out of the box, pickguard was screwed on rubbish. Not straight or aligned between pickups so I removed and refitted it better.
Truss rod cover was split also. Got them to send me a new one.
I swapped out the volume knobs for different as I just don’t like the standard ones and added pointers.
Neck is amazing. Between 50s and 60s kinda size. Feels wider than normal but I measured it and it’s same as my other les Pauls but doesn’t have binding here so I think that’s why.
Love the wood grain feel and look.
Pickups are aggressive and biting. Quite hot but love the sound.
    Stay in tune really well.
pcb electronics? Seem ok for now?

Me too, thinking i might check one out in store after I've finished paying for this tribute special. Love p90s more than any other pickup since i got this. Perfect blend of bite and growl with thickness.

Id compare the p90 distorted sound to the dirty fingers pickup. i know that's two extremes but they both are aggressive and have a high presence and bite. Just my opinion of course :blah:

I dont think they make what I describe, they did like 15 years ago but never in lefty that I need. I like the simplicity of the no frills slab and yellow is just cool. :yesway:

Get the Epi P-90 & swap out the pickups to P-90 size HB's (dog ears optional)

Yeah I've seen them they are nice looking, I want humbuckers and ditch that funny looking pickguard and screw a regular LP pickguard to it. And its gotta be lefty of course! :yesway:

Have you tried the P90 sized humbuckers? How they sound? Mini humbuckers are drop in replacements too.

Another odd guitar I want is a Fender Mustang in daphne blue with a humbucker in the bridge, I think I want this one first since I have a couple LP's already.
